Glorifying the Name of Jesus
It is the core responsibility of every believer to be glorifying the name of Jesus Christ as we live our daily responsibility bringing men and women to Christ. The journey of christianity is all about glorifying our Saviour and Lord Jesus Christ. Anywhere and wherever we found ourselves, let the name of Lord be glorify. Let the glory of God Almighty be reveal through us.
1 – Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour.
2 – And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple;
3 – Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms.
4 – And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us.
5 – And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them.
6 – Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
7 – And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.
8 – And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.
9 – And all the people saw him walking and praising God:
10 – And they knew that it was he which sat for alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple: and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened unto him.
11 – And as the lame man which was healed held Peter and John, all the people ran together unto them in the porch that is called Solomon’s, greatly wondering.
12 – And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk?
13 – The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go.
14 – But ye denied the Holy One and the Just, and desired a murderer to be granted unto you;
15 – And killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses.
16 – And his name through faith in his name hath made this man strong, whom ye see and know: yea, the faith which is by him hath given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.” (Acts chapter 3 verses 1 to 16)
Every thing happened at its time
When they man at the beautiful gate asked for alms from Peter and John, that does not mean that is the first time those men have walked through that entrance to go and pray. That was not the very first time, they made it through there. That was not the first time they showed up at that very place that the lame man was able to set his eyes on them. They have been accessing that very entrance and I believe the lame man never asked them for alms.
What have changed this time that these men were passing and they heard the lame man asking them for alms. Probably, in the previous occasions he has been asking them for alms and they were given him cash. But that very moment, God wanted to glorify the Son, Jesus Christ. It was not an accident, It was designed that on that very day that God will glorify His Son Jesus Christ in the eyes of those who rejected and crucified Him.
Special thing happens on each special day
What happened on that day that was so special? These men may have thought to give him alms as usual, but they found out that very day that they have nothing with them to give him. That was the very day he fastened his eyes on Peter and John to do something for him. It was not his request, but it was his desire that he should make use of his legs as every other mature person. There was a desire and need in the man’s heart that prompted Peter to address that desire. Special thing happens on each special day.
17 – “And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 – They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.” (Mark chapter 16 verses 17 to 18)
The power and authority in the name of Jesus Christ.
There is something more than gold and silver that everyone needs to know. The name of Jesus Christ is the most powerful tool to access the future and secure a beautiful future. The name of Jesus is the true evidence of a living hope. There is nothing impossible with the name of Jesus. Every other power and circumstances submit at the power and authority in the name of Jesus Christ.
“Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.” (Acts chapter 3 verses 6)
The Spirit of God in the life of any believer is more than silver and gold. Silver and gold would put food on the table of the crippled man, but silver and gold does not have the capacity to make him walk. The lame man had received great alm that never changed his predicament by him making use of his legs. But that fateful day, he thought it was business as usual, where people will pity him and start giving to him.
Every believer can demonstrate power.
I know he might be praying in his heart for God to touch the heart of the people to look towards his direction and help him. The help he can only seek from the people is silver and gold. He knew that was how far he can believe that capacity of men. Maybe he has visited some places where he was told once he step into such place that he will be made whole. He went to such place, after spending his cash on whatever they might have charged him, it was to no avail.
When the name of Jesus Christ is mentioned from a heart that has a true connection with Jesus Christ, Jesus will answer His name. The name of Jesus Christ does not answer to everyone. There are specific people the name of Jesus works for. You must have an identity with our Saviour, Lord and Master Jesus Christ, if His name will be answerable to you whenever you mentioned the name Jesus Christ. In the book of John chapter one verses twelve says,
“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:”
