You must have an assurance conquering the giant

When David approached king Saul and assured him that he is well able to confront the giant and to conquer him. Saul was like David who was still a youth and he might been driven by curiosity. King Saul was not in a hurry to accept the request of David because he understood that David has never been in a battle field before then. He has never experienced what it takes to fight a battle and to conquer

Then David opened up to him that he has been the keeper of his father’s sheep. I have taken care of my father’s sheep and I can do anything to preserve their lives. It was not about me but about the sheep put under my care. I can sacrifice anything for them to see they are in good shape and health. I cannot forget that fateful day when a lion came, took one of the sheep and trying to devour it and I ran after the lion.

“You went after a lion,” king Saul, asked.

“Yes my lord,” he nodded, boldly. “I want after the lion because the lion was holding a sheep that was precious to me,” David said.

“A sheep was so precious to you that you put your life on the line?” King Saul asked, seriously.

“Yes my lord. Not only a lion but also a bear. You know my lord, I caught the lion and the bear, I killed them both and rescued my sheep,” he said, boldly.

“Hmmm,” the king Saul sat back.

“I believe this uncircumcised Philistine is like one of them. Permit me my lord to go after him.”

“You have my permission,” king Saul, said.

[31] “And when the words were heard which David spake, they rehearsed them before Saul: and he sent for him.

[32] And David said to Saul, Let no man’s heart fail because of him; thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine.

[33] And Saul said to David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him: for thou art but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.

[34] And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father’s sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock:

[35] and I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him.

[36] Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.

[37] David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the LORD be with thee.” (1 Samuel chapter 17 verses 31 to 37 KJV)

The giant you run away from will keep surface and torment you all through your life until you stir up the courage to confront and conquer it.

What will be your testimony when the giant shows up? If David had not been confronted with a giant in the time past that he was able to defeat it, he would not have had enough courage to confront and conquer Goliath. David believed that killing the giant in the first place, he can kill the giant any time the giant shows up. He was not seeing Goliath threat to the host army of Israel but he was seeing a dead man who was trying to prove relevant before his death. In the sight of the army of the Israelite, Goliath was insurmountable, but in the eyes of David, he was seeing a misfortune befalling the land of the Philistine because as long as he is concerned Goliath is already a dead man.

The giant you run away from will keep surfacing and tormenting you all through your life until you stir up the courage to confront and conquer it. Think about David what would have been his testimony when the lion and bear came and he left those sheep and ran for his dear life. If that is the case, the lion and bear will keep paying him and his sheep visit until every sheep is gone. His sheep were preserved because he was able to confront and conquer the giant.

Conclusion:

The giant will keep threatening until it is defeated and wiped away. Stop running away from the giant. You are the giant killer.
