You are responsible for a responsibility
1 – “The words of Nehemiah the son of Hachaliah. And it came to pass in the month Chisleu, in the twentieth year, as I was in Shushan the palace,
2 – That Hanani, one of my brethren, came, he and certain men of Judah; and I asked them concerning the Jews that had escaped, which were left of the captivity, and concerning Jerusalem.
3 – And they said unto me, The remnant that are left of the captivity there in the province are in great affliction and reproach: the wall of Jerusalem also is broken down, and the gates thereof are burned with fire.
4 – And it came to pass, when I heard these words, that I sat down and wept, and mourned certain days, and fasted, and prayed before the God of heaven,
5 – And said, I beseech thee, O LORD God of heaven, the great and terrible God, that keepeth covenant and mercy for them that love him and observe his commandments:
6 – Let thine ear now be attentive, and thine eyes open, that thou mayest hear the prayer of thy servant, which I pray before thee now, day and night, for the children of Israel thy servants, and confess the sins of the children of Israel, which we have sinned against thee: both I and my father’s house have sinned.
7 – We have dealt very corruptly against thee, and have not kept the commandments, nor the statutes, nor the judgments, which thou commandedst thy servant Moses.
8 – Remember, I beseech thee, the word that thou commandedst thy servant Moses, saying, If ye transgress, I will scatter you abroad among the nations:
9 – But if ye turn unto me, and keep my commandments, and do them; though there were of you cast out unto the uttermost part of the heaven, yet will I gather them from thence, and will bring them unto the place that I have chosen to set my name there.
10 – Now these are thy servants and thy people, whom thou hast redeemed by thy great power, and by thy strong hand.
11 – O Lord, I beseech thee, let now thine ear be attentive to the prayer of thy servant, and to the prayer of thy servants, who desire to fear thy name: and prosper, I pray thee, thy servant this day, and grant him mercy in the sight of this man. For I was the king’s cupbearer.” (Nehemiah chapter 1 verses 1 to 11)
He can imagine himself experiencing what his people are experiencing at the moment
Nehemiah was happy to see one of his brethren and many others who came to see him, and he used the opportunity to asked them about the welfare of his people, the response he received triggered an inner impulse in him that wears him down. When he heard about the affliction and reproach his people are being subjected to, he was concerned to do something about that. He knew his people deserve a more better life than being afflicted in their land. Nothing seem to be working, every where is broken and at the vent of collapse.
Hearing what his people was subject to, that seized his appetite for food. He began to wept for his people. He can imagine himself experiencing what his people are experiencing at the moment. He knew there was a course at hand. Many thoughts came into his head, in all he realised that he might be existed for a time like this. It was on this course, he was not comfortable going about things with the pretence that everything is normal. He is the king cup bearer, if he chooses never to do anything, if would not affect his position, but it will affect his reputation. If he had stayed and never to do anything, nobody would have been talking about Nehemiah. He would have been forgotten.
It is men and women of responsibility that make name
It is men and women of responsibility that make name. He knew why those men came to him was because they have tried to figure out what they can do to help their present situation but none avail. They decided to call his attention knowing full well he might come to their aid. Nehemiah took it upon himself as though he is the only one standing. He accepted within himself that he needs to do something before the worse will befall his people. He looked in and around him, only to discover he can’t really help out. By flesh shall no one prevail.
He knew his tears will not make any impact, then he decided to switched to God Almighty that have the capacity to turn things around. He took the challenges at the moment to God. He never complained to God about the many challenges surrounding them but he kept telling God about how great and mighty He is.
In any situation, it is someone responsibility to bring that situation to God for a amendment and solution.
He identified with the sin of his fathers and also reminded God of His promises about His word that is full of mercy. Nehemiah did not want to think this to be someone else responsibility. He thinks it his responsibility. In any situation, it is someone responsibility to bring that situation to God for a amendment and solution. Failure in such aspect can cause more harm. God is always handicapped when men have lost it in the place of taken responsibilities. In every situations, there is a place of man and there is a place of God. No one out of the act of irresponsible will delicate all responsibilities to God.
To effectively fulfill your responsibility, you should understand that your strength is limited. There is when your strength cannot help matter. You need an enforcement to keep you on track going. There is when the going will get tough and you will eagerly need the backup of the supernatural. You can’t do it alone. If you ever think you will do it alone, you will clash on the way. I pray you will be there to tell the story. Many who are attributed as failures were never failures, only that they failed to acknowledge the place of the supernatural.
Conclusion
To effectively fulfill your responsibility, you should understand that your strength is limited
You should always understand the place of natural and the place of supernatural if you must effectively carry out your responsibility. You need God Almighty by your side if you must make any significant in life. Why many are still struggling is because they thought their power can pave way for them. Get God by your side and the impossible will become possible.
