We are seated in heavenly places
1 – “And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;
2 – Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
3 – Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.
4 – But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,
5 – Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)
6 – And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:
7 – That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.” (Ephesians chapter 2 verses 1 to 7)
Everything about man first started in the spirit realm
It should not draw dust of dispute when the statement that we are seated in heavenly places comes across. The question is where did man originate from? Man originated from heaven before he was deployed on earth. Man has first experienced heaven before he was deployed on earth to exercise dominion and to continue to reflect God’s glory. Everything about man first started in the spirit realm.
Man is first a spirit, that is the man God created in the book of Genesis chapter 1 verses 26.
“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness:”
Man has been in operation in the heavenly places before the earth came into place
We were seated in the heavenly places when full creation was going on. Never you forget that man was the reason for creation. If there was no man to govern the earth, God would not have wasted the precious time going after things that will finally not make much meaning and significance. The existence of man was what prompted the whole art of creation. Man was fully in existence as creation was going on.
I am always full of so much excitement whenever I read through the book of Ephesians. The book of Ephesians made it clear that before God even had the thought to make the move of laying the foundation of the earth, He had chosen man to Himself. The man that God chose for Himself cannot dwell in any place lower than the heavenly places. Man has been in operation in the heavenly places before the earth came into place.
“According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:” (Ephesians chapter 1 verses 4)
Man is never born a king by the existence of the earth, man was already born a king before the existence of the earth
God chose man in Him, that is the whole fact that we are created in His image after His likeness. We are like God and we deserve the full respect and honour as been designed, fashioned, created and made in the same image and likeness as God Almighty. Been created in God’s class, we have the audacity to be where He is. And God cannot give man an unfair treatment for the fact we are made in His image after His likeness.
Man was already made a king by existence. That is why God chose to make another kingdom for man so that he will be able to taste to art of kingship. God wanted man to have a taste of leadership and that is the reason behind creating the kingdom earth so that man can be in charge and exercise authority as God exercise authority in heaven. Man is never born a king by the existence of the earth, man was already born a king before the existence of the earth.
The disobedience of man to the principles of God and his succumbing to the deception of the devil brought everything about man into a complete mess
There is something about man and his Maker that everyone especially the Christian believers, is that man is the only being in the whole universe that was ever created in God’s image after God’s likeness. That means that everything that made God was deposited in man at the creation of man. Nothing was ever withdrawn. God is never a man that He would lie. That which He had said about bringing man forth in His image after His likeness, is what He saw through in the creation of man.
It was the fall of man in the garden of Eden that brought a terrible blow in the personality of man which crumbled everything about man and his ability to be to exercise full dominion over the earth and everything created on the earth. The disobedience of man to the principles of God and his succumbing to the deception of the devil brought everything about man into a complete mess.
Thanks to God Almighty that His mercy endures forever. Thanks to our Lord and Master Jesus Christ for paying the ultimate price for our redemption and total freedom from the captivity of the devil, and restored us back to our place of total dominion. We will look deep into this very course in our subsequent topic to see how much it actually cost God and our Lord Jesus Christ for man to be restored in his place of dominion.
Conclusion:
“And hath raised us up together and made us sit together in Heavenly Places in Christ Jesus.” (Ephesians chapter 2 verses 6)
Man fell and man was restored through the finished work of Christ Jesus on the cross and His resurrection from the death. Jesus paid it all to restore us back to where we were seated in the heavenly places.
