True leaders are not known by position
It is quite interesting to know that true leaders are not known by position. True leaders are known by responsibility. There is no genuine leader who is not first a person of responsibility by thinking of position. Position has always been to a true leader the platform to perform his duty diligently to touch and transform lives. Position does not mean much to any true leader than the changes that is flowing in the heart for execution.
It was Abraham Lincoln who said, ‘If you want to know a man, give him power.’ Power or position is one of the true test of a man. Yes, everyone can pretend to be genuine until power is handed to him or her. Why must it be that the test of a man is position? Position will reveal the true character of anyone. If you think you are saint, wait till you occupy a position then we will know how genuine you are.

God understood this perspective and on the account of creation, He never created man looking at the point of position, God created man looking at the point of character. The leadership of man was never based on position but the leadership of man was base on character. Once a man misses it in the place of character, abuse is inevitable. Once a leader misses it in the place of character, he will miss it in place of discharging responsibility.
26 – And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27 – So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. (Genesis chapter 1 verses 26 to 27)
God Almighty did not just talk about creating man in His image after His character, it was so important that in Genesis chapter 1 verses 27, God made man in His image which is God’s character and His likeness which God’s functionality. It is on these bases that man will live not to exercise effective and efficient leadership.
Character is everything in leadership
Any leadership that does not find its bases on leadership will result in abuse of priority. That will affect the discharge of duty. Character is everything in leadership. From character springs execution of responsibility that will affect lives position and also transform the society. Until it is gotten in the place of character, it cannot be gotten in the place of responsibility. If it is not gotten in the place of character, it will not be gotten in the place of position.
When a man of character is given a position, he always has the people at heart and seeks to make them happy.
“When the [uncompromisingly] righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when the wicked man rules, the people groan and sigh.” (Proverbs chapter 29 verses 2 AMP)
‘When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice:” These are leaders who understand the place of character and not to abuse position. That is why after their stay in position, people still remember them not by how long they stayed in position, people remember them by how well they were able to discharge their responsibilities. You can’t find a leader of character who is not a person of responsibility. You can find a leader of position who is not a person of character.

When a man without character finds himself in any position, the people are in torment. ‘…but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.’ He only rule to enrich himself. His needs always come first, his family before thinking of the people. They only remember the people when they must have mourned for long.
Power or position can be intoxicating. True leaders are not just mindful of their position, they are so mindful of every responsibility they embrace to make our nation and world a beautiful place.
Conclusion
True leaders always live to put a smile on the face of the people. They think of people first than they think about themselves. Be one of them who will live to lead right to put a smile on the face of the people and to transform our society.
