To be an outstanding minister
- You must have vision:
Ask yourself which kind of minister do you want to be. This will help you on the materials to engage on, and the man of God you will look upon. Vision gives one direction and imposes discipline on you. The attributes of casting a vision is vary vital as it is one vital attributes God displayed when running through creation.
2 – “And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it.
3 – For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry.” (Habakkuk chapter 2 verses 2 to 3)
- You must live a life of consecration:
Setting yourself apart for God is one of the vital goals for anyone who desires to be effectively and efficiently be used by God. You have to make yourself available for God used. It is your responsibility to present yourself to God as a vessel so that He can fill you.
1 – “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2 – And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” Romans chapter 12 verses 1 to 2)
God is in need of vessel, it is in your power to make yourself a vessel for God.
20 – “But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
21 – If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.” (2Timothy chapter 2 verses 20 to 21)
- You must have the right motive:
There is a right motive one has to put in place if he or she wants to be used by God. You don’t serve God because of His blessing. Is like a woman married a man because of his riches, not because she loves him. When the motive is not right, abuse may be inevitable.
1 – “The preparations of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the LORD.
2 – All the ways of a man are clean in his own eyes; but the LORD weigheth the spirits.
3 – Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.” (Proverbs chapter 16 verses 1 to 3)
God rewards people base on motive. The state of one’s heart is very important.
- You must have a prayer life:
Prayer life generates grace. You need to serve God with anointing and the anointing is gotten in the place of prayer. Where there is no prayer, there is no ministry. You can’t do must as a minister if you do not have a burning altar. The power to do ministry is drive from the place of prayer.
29 – “He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
30 – Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:
31 – But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” (Isaiah chapter 40 verses 29 to 31)
- You must have a word life:
“Also, that the soul be without knowledge, it is not good; and he that hasteth with his feet sinneth.” (Proverbs chapter 19 verses 2)
Knowledge is the foundation of what ever anyone wants to do. It is not good to have zeal without knowledge. You have to know what it takes to be the man or woman God can used. What you do not have full knowledge about, you will not progress much in it. The level of your progress is the level of the knowledge you have acquired.
1 – “That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
2 – For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;)
3 – That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.” (1John chapter 1 verses 1 to 3)
- You must work on your character:
The way you relate to people, the way you act matters alot. Good character smells sweet aroma. Bad character smells irritating, it stains anointing. To be a genuine minister of God is not about you, it is about those God wants to reach out through you.
1 – “We then that are strong ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not to please ourselves.
2 – Let every one of us please his neighbour for his good to edification.
3 – For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me.” (Romans chapter 15 verses 1 to 3)
7: You must be disciplined:
“But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.” (1Corinthians chapter 9 verses 27)
No one can function effectively without being disciplined. Discipline enables one to overlook and overcome certain things and to have self-control to forgive.
