The two divine judgement
11 – And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
12 – And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
13 – And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
14 – And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
15 – And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” (Revelation chapter 20 verses 11 to 15)
It is obvious we are never of the earth. We are pilgrims on the earth. We exist for a specific responsibility to reflect God’s glory thereby making the earth to look like heaven where the glory of God will be reveal everywhere as the waters cover the sea.
“For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.” (Habakkuk chapter 2 verses 14)
When each of us is done with whatever assignment we are created to meet, we will all approach the judgement seat of God to render the full report and accountability on how we went about the assignment given to us. It is inevitable that no single individual will escape the judgement seat of God.
“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:” (Hebrews chapter 9 verses 27)
Apparently there are two major categories of Divine judgement documented in the Holy Bible that every human being born again or not must face on the last Day. The day of judgement, a day of proper accountability awaits every individual whether you are a believer or you are not.
- The Great White Throne judgement:
This is the judgement an unbeliever will face on that day of judgement. That is the day that “it does not matter” will be the matter of the day. This is the judgement of those whose names are nowhere to be found in the Lamb’s Book of life.
11 – “And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
15 – And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.” (Revelation chapter 20 verses 11 to 15)
God Almighty have the sole responsibility of presiding over this judgement. He is not going to compromise His judgement for any reason. There will be no room for sentimental play to favour some persons in who are not qualified. The standard of God’s judgement remain sure which would guarantee eternal damnation for those people who have never accepted the Lord Jesus as Saviour and Lord in their lives. It will interest everyone to know that the only sin God cannot forgive is the sin of not accepting the finished work of Christ on the cross.
- The Judgement Seat of Christ:
“Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.” (2Timothy chapter 2 verses 19)
20 – “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
21 – To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
22 – He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.” (Revelation chapter 3 verses 20 to 22)
This very judgement seat of Christ would be presided over by the Lord Jesus Christ Himself over all Christian believers.
“But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.” (Romans chapter 14 verses 10)
The sole purpose of this very judgement is the presenting of rewards for faithfulness in Christian stewardship which Jesus Himself would give to anyone who is found worthy. It will interest everyone to know that Jesus left His throne in the first place and came down on earth in the form of man to completely pay the ultimate price to redeem us to the Father. He is the Lamb of God Who was slain for our sakes for the remission of sin.
“And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders, stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.” (Revelation chapter 5 verses 6)
He is coming back again not as a the Saviour of the world, but as the judge of the world. He would eventually judge us by being the Lion of the Tribe of Judah Who reigns supreme over us as Lord.
“And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.” (Revelation chapter 5 verses 5)
All that Jesus paid for to redeemed humanity will never be in vain.
“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.” (2Corinthians chapter 5 verses 10)
Conclusion:
17 – “Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
18 – There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
19 – We love him, because he first loved us.” (1John chapter 4 verses 17 to 19)
We are expected to hold unto one’s faith to the end, some day we will all appear before our Lord and Master Jesus Christ with the hope to hear Him say “Welldone you good and faithful servant. ”
