The principles of sonship

  1. Principle of exclusivity: This principle states that there is only one father in the family. Every son should understand that he has only one father. No matter how good and nice someone else is to cannot replace one’s father. He can be a destiny helper but not your father. The place of father in the family and individual was ordained by God. You can replace your biological father with another man. So if you know it is God Almighty that ordered your steps into a particular denomination, then you have to submit to the spiritual father of that very family. You can’t be a in a particular family and be assuming someone from another denomination to be your father.

“For though ye have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet have ye not many fathers: for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.” (1Corinthians chapter4 verses 15)

9 – And call no man your father upon the earth: for one is your Father, which is in heaven.

10 – Neither be ye called masters: for one is your Master, even Christ.” (Mathew chapter 23 verses 9 to 10)

  1. The principle of acknowledging the father: This principle states that a son know his father. You would not become Joshua if you do not know your Moses. You would not become Elisha if you do not know your Elijah. You would not become Timothy if you do not know your Paul. Fatherless generation usually they don’t come back from the battle field. They don’t have covering.

14 – “I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.

15 – As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.

16 – And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.” (John chapter 10 verses 14 to 16)

  1. The principle of perception: This principle states that a son has a revelation of his father.

13 – When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?

14 – And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.

15 – He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

16 – And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

17 – And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.” (Mathew chapter 16 verses 13 to 17)

Having a revelation of your father helps in submitting and honouring.

  1. The principle of abiding: This principle states that a son abides in the house forever.

For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.” (Romans chapter 8 verses 15)

“God setteth the solitary in families: he bringeth out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.” (Psalm chapter 68 verses 6)

No matter what happens, a son will never leave the family. He understands where he belong and he can’t afford not to be a good ambassador of the family.  He can be hurt, yet he has mindset of remaining in the family.

  1. The principle of honour: The principle states that Father’s must be honoured.

1 – Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.

2 – Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)

3 – That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.” (Ephesians chapter 6 verses 1 to 3)

As a member of the family, you have an inheritance and it is your father who will give you your inheritance.

26 – And his father Isaac said unto him, Come near now, and kiss me, my son.

27 – And he came near, and kissed him: and he smelled the smell of his raiment, and blessed him, and said, See, the smell of my son is as the smell of a field which the LORD hath blessed:

28 – Therefore God give thee of the dew of heaven, and the fatness of the earth, and plenty of corn and wine:

29 – Let people serve thee, and nations bow down to thee: be lord over thy brethren, and let thy mother’s sons bow down to thee: cursed be every one that curseth thee, and blessed be he that blesseth thee.

30 – And it came to pass, as soon as Isaac had made an end of blessing Jacob, and Jacob was yet scarce gone out from the presence of Isaac his father, that Esau his brother came in from his hunting.

31 – And he also had made savoury meat, and brought it unto his father, and said unto his father, Let my father arise, and eat of his son’s venison, that thy soul may bless me.

32 – And Isaac his father said unto him, Who art thou? And he said, I am thy son, thy firstborn Esau.

33 – And Isaac trembled very exceedingly, and said, Who? where is he that hath taken venison, and brought it me, and I have eaten of all before thou camest, and have blessed him? yea, and he shall be blessed.” (Genesis chapter 27 verses 26 to 33)

Op

  1. The principle of correction: This principle states that you will be corrected by your father.

9 – “Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us, and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live?

10 – For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness.

11 – Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby.” (Hebrews chapter 12 verses 9 to 11)

If you call someone your father, he has the power to correct you.

8 – Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered; — null

9 – And being made perfect, he became the author of eternal salvation unto all them that obey him;” (Hebrews chapter 5 verses 8 to 9)

Conclusion:

There is a place for you in the house of God. There is a place for you in God’s plan. You are part of God’s agenda. God build His kingdom on the father and son order. The proof you understand the gospel is when you understand sonship.
