The pride of God

6 – Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.

7 – And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it.

8 – And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?

9 – Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought?

10 – Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.

11 – But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face.

12 – And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.” (Job chapter 1 verses 6 to 12)

There is never any good agenda accompanying the devil

Satan was trying to shy away from the question God threw at him by beating about the corner. Whatever that made satan believe that he can hide his intention from God is incredible. Whatever made satan think that God cannot read his heart, is something one can comprehend. God is the all knowing God. It is obvious that satan knows that God knows everything and nothing in anyone’s heart is hidden from God.

Satan’s report got God thinking about the agenda of the devil. God knew that when the devil appears, he is after someone that he will steal, kill and destroy. There is never any good agenda accompanying the devil. The devil is evil and everything about the devil is evil. Since the devil is evil, there is no how good things will start to spring out of the one that is an epitome of evil. God knew satan has an agenda and God went on to make everything clear to the devil.

Whatever that God said about the man Job has no sentiment attached to it.

In verses eight of the scripture above,

“And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil?” (Job chapter 1 verses 8)

God was so proud to announce to satan that Job was His pride. God went on to disclose such amazing attributes about Job. Whatever that God said about the man Job has no sentiment attached to it. God is never a man that can say one thing and mean the other. God was sure about the man Job and was confident about his personality that he is exceptional in everything that will bring glory to God. That is the pride of God.

Everything about the devil is accusation towards the children of God

In verse nine, it will be wise for us to look at the accusation of the devil.

“Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought?” (Job chapter 1 verses 9)

Satan was just proud and arrogant to stand boldly to tell God that there is a reason behind Job being afraid of God to maintain uprightness in every affairs of life. Do not forget he is the accuser of the brethren. He did not learn it new. This is a nature flowing in him. Everything about the devil is accusation towards the children of God. There is this fulfilment in the devil when he is able to identify any form of flaw in the life of any child of God.

Do not be deceived, even when satan is not aware about anything concerning anyone, he will always approach with an accusation. It is clear at this fact, that is he said to God that does Job fear God for nothing. Satan believes every child of God has an ulterior motive of having a walk with God.  Of course some persons may have an ulterior motive of serving God, but there are those who reverence God for Who and what He is without any attachment.

Satan thought he was destroying Job, little did you know he was actually working to bring Job to his glorious destination in life

In all this, satan was actually seeking for an opportunity to deal with Job. And because he is God’s pride, God granted the devil’s request. People may have been saying that God wouldn’t have granted such request. That it is too dangerous. Do not forget that, before God could arrive at the conclusion that Job is His pride, God must have checked Job out on many occasions. Yet Job did not succumb, instead he stood strong. That is why God permitted the devil to have the second test on Job.

Though the devil meant it for evil, but little did he know that after the whole checking, Job will experience  a glorious enviable ending. Satan thought he was destroying Job, little did you know he was actually working to bring Job to his glorious destination in life. Quite alright, the process might be horrible, yet God will prove Himself mighty in everything for the sake of His glory.

Conclusion:

When we have a genuine walk with God Almighty, in every trial, temptation and pain we are never alone. Though it seems it last longer than expected, it will surely end in praise and jubilation. Every child of God is the pride of God in the making. Let us endure every process we are being subjected for so that we can turn out right for the Master use and glorification.
