The miraculous power in the name of Jesus
1 – “Now Peter and John went up together into the temple at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour.
2 – And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms of them that entered into the temple;
3 – Who seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple asked an alms.
4 – And Peter, fastening his eyes upon him with John, said, Look on us.
5 – And he gave heed unto them, expecting to receive something of them.
6 – Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.
7 – And he took him by the right hand, and lifted him up: and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.
8 – And he leaping up stood, and walked, and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.
9 – And all the people saw him walking and praising God:
10 – And they knew that it was he which sat for alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple: and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened unto him.
11 – And as the lame man which was healed held Peter and John, all the people ran together unto them in the porch that is called Solomon’s, greatly wondering.
12 – And when Peter saw it, he answered unto the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? or why look ye so earnestly on us, as though by our own power or holiness we had made this man to walk?
13 – The God of Abraham, and of Isaac, and of Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his Son Jesus; whom ye delivered up, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let him go.” (Acts chapter 3 verses 1 to 13)
The fate that he was born crippled, the fate to live as a cripple and the fate to die a cripple was obvious to him.
It was apparent that this very man had been lame from his mother womb. They carried him to the gate of the temple to beg for alms. That has been his life all through as a child, through boyhood and now he is a man. He has accepted his predicament as part of his life and that nothing will ever make any difference to pull him out of his present condition. When he realised that he was born lame, he came to the belief that, that was how God ever wanted him to be.
How long this man has been in such condition we cannot ascertain. He is as old as the predicament has lasted. He was born into it and he lived into it. The fate that he was born crippled, the fate to live as a cripple and the fate to die a cripple was obvious to him. Whoever that ever disclosed or talked to him that he was going to stand and walk with his both legs, he will doubt it. Even when he seemed to accept such fact that will be on the basis to fulfill all righteousness.
It was recorded that he asked Peter and John for arms.
Been born lame, I believe that must have taken over his name. His condition and predicament must have been the easiest way to describe him for easy understanding for everyone. If his name was to be Henry, that would have been cripple Henry at the beautiful gate. Once this is mentioned, everyone knows who is being referred to. As a matter of fact, his predicament has taken over him.
That fateful day he was sitting at the side of the beautiful gate as usual asking for alms. It was recorded that he asked Peter and John for arms. My concern about all this is that, does it means he has never set his eyes on Peter and John or any of the disciples for then. Whatever that may be the case, one cannot tell. It might be that his path and that of any of the disciples had not met ealier before then. It might be that their path had met but he never asked them for alms. May be he was one of those who did not believe the teaching of our Lord and Master Jesus Christ.
For God made all things beautiful in His time.
Whatever that may have been the case why he has not received his healing during present time of our Lord and Master Jesus Christ does not matter alot. For God made all things beautiful in His time. There is God’s time for every purpose under the sun that one should continue to fix his or her sight on God for a turn around. There is always a defining moment for every situation that we all need to fasten our view on God for Him to perform His will in our lives and situation.
“He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end.” (Ecclesiastes chapter 3 verses 11)
The supernatural is made possible in the name of Jesus Christ.
The lame man was expecting Peter and John to have pity on him and give him money. Yes, his greatest expectations at the moment was cash so that he can be able to buy whatever he wished. He must have put on that look of pity all over his face for them to actually sympathise with him. But that was not case, that a remarkable event that no one has ever believed was able to take place in his life.
He may have been having this desire to walk but he does not know how possible that could ever be until that fateful moment when he kept his look on Peter and John to put their hands into the pocket and brought out money to hand over to him, but it was not so. He actually desired for cash but he got something else in return. He got something he never expected could be possible in his lifetime. That can only be possible when the supernatural stepped in. The supernatural is made possible in the name of Jesus Christ.
Conclusion:
“Then Peter said, Silver and gold have I none; but such as I have give I thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth rise up and walk.” (Acts chapter 3 verses 6)
To his amazement, the miraculous in the Name of Jesus was made real in his life. He couldn’t hold his excitement and he walked about rejoicing. Who could ever believe that, but that which is impossible with men is possible with God. We have to believe God in everything with everything within us knowing full well that He cares about us.
“And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.” (Mark chapter 10 verses 27)
