The invisible enemies of a believer
10 – “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.
11 – Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
12 – For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 – Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
14 – Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;
15 – And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace;
16 – Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.
17 – And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:” (Ephesians chapter 6 verses 10 to 17)
First of all every Christian believer should be conversant with the fact we are born into a battle field. There is a combat that was laid on ground when man chose to disobey God’s instructions and yield to the deception of the devil. That singular act caused a battle line between the kingdom of light and the kingdom of darkness. It was well explained when God made it known of what will befall man and what will be befall the devil.
14 – “And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:
15 – And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.” (Genesis chapter 3 verses 14 to 15)
Devil is the source of darkness. It is God that is the true Source of light. When man disobeyed God, that caused the glory of God which is the Source of true light to disappear and darkness encroached. Man being created in the image after God’s likeness is the true vessel to reveal the glory of God all over the places after the finished work of Christ on the cross and His resurrection restored man in his right place.
The kingdom of darkness is fighting to prevail, that can take place when Christian believers fail to realise that we are in for a battle to reveal God’s glory. We are called and were chosen for this very course to deal with the kingdom of darkness. Our wrestling is against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
9 – “And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.
10 – Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.” (2Corinthians chapter 12 verses 9 to 10)
As Christian believers, we must always recall that we have invisible enemies whose major aim and purpose is to stop us from laying hold on our Inheritance in Christ Jesus. By Inheritance, we do not refer to those vain and mundane things such as material possessions and property. The Major Inheritance the enemy desires to keep you from claiming is the Promise and Hope of Eternal Security with the Lord God Almighty Himself. The devil’s ultimate goal is to keep anyone out of the knowledge and the fact that he has been defeated, disarmed and dethroned by the Lord Jesus Christ.
“To whom God would make known what is the riches of the glory of this mystery among the Gentiles; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:” (Colosians chapter 1 verses 17)
The journey of a believer in this present time is in the same manner as that of the children of Israel in which there were giants obstructing the path of the Israelites on their way to the Promised Land. The same is applicable in our dispensation where there are demonic forces and entities doing everything within their power to resist people from fulfilling their divine purpose and representing the Lord Jesus Christ fully within their spheres of influence.
“For a great door and effectual is opened unto me, and there are many adversaries.” (1Corianthians chapter 16 verses 9)
These forces are in for a significant goal to continue blinding the mind of the people of the world so that they will not be able to know what had been accomplished on the cross for them through the death and resurrection of our Lord and Master Jesus Christ. The assignment of these adversaries basically involves populating hell with as many people as they can while depopulating heaven in the process. The Battle of Eternal Security is a spiritual battle, which requires our taking a defensive stance against these forces. There are demonic spirits all over the universe influencing humans to go against the Will of God and ultimately cause them to fall just like Adam and Eve did in the Garden of Eden.
3 – “But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:
4 – In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.” (2Corinthians chapter 4 verses 3 to 4)
Conclusion:
12 – “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
13 – Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” (Ephesians chapter 6 verses 12 to 13)
Obviously it is our individual power and responsibility to put on the whole armour of God for that is the only way one can withstand every devices of the enemy. Do not forget that God’s grace is sufficient to everyone of us to be able to conquer at all time.
