THE INDICES OF A HEALTHY LEADER
- Having a prayer life:
“And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.” (Luke chapter 11 verses 1)
If you aimed at becoming a healthy leader, you must have a prayer life. Jesus the greatest leader of all time had a prayer life and that is why His ministry experienced such a tremendous impacts in the life of the people and the earth at large. Prayer was one of the vital keys Jesus deployed during His leadership here on earth.
- Having a word life:
“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” (Joshua chapter 1 verses 8)
If you desire to become a healthy leader, you must have a word life. You need to be equipped to be able to lead effectively. What makes a healthy leader is the amount of knowledge he has. Where you are about to go people have been there before. Where you are aiming at, someone has been there before and it will takes one to study their foot print to be able to navigates through.
- Having a giving life:
“Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again.” (Luke chapter 6 verses 38)
Giving is a life style of any genuine leader. As the priest, so are the people. Until you come to the point of sacrifice for others, you are not yet a leader. Yes, a healthy leader is the one who throw a helping hand to the people he leads. There must be a time when those you are leading will seek for your aid. Do not withdrew your hand.
- Having a faith life:
“And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.” (Mathew chapter 17 verses 20)
Leadership is faith based. Christianity is run on a fuel of faith. If you don’t give constant attention to your faith life, it will evaporate. Faith grow when you practice it. You must put your faith to work if it must yield greatly to you. To be a healthy leader and to maintain your leadership, you must operate in faith.
- Having a hope life:
“By whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.” (Romans chapter 5 verses 2)
As a leader you are expected to have the eternity in view.
- Having a service life:
“But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.” (1Corianthians chapter 15 verses 10)
Make up your mind to serve at the time. Develop the right attitude for service.
- Having a love life:
1 – “Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not charity, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
2 – And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.
3 – And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, it profiteth me nothing.
4 – Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up,
5 – Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil;
6 – Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth;
7 – Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
8 – Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.” (1Corianthians chapter 13 verses 1 to 8)
To be and maintain a healthy leadership life style, you have to learn to walk in love always.
“Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:” (Hebrews chapter 12 verses 14)
- Having a life of submission to authority:
“Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: for they watch for your souls, as they that must give account, that they may do it with joy, and not with grief: for that is unprofitable for you.” (Hebrews chapter 13 verses 17)
Strive not to look out for the weakness of your leader. Let the devil not move your eye from the strength of your leader and focus on the weakness.
