The important of thanksgiving
1. It is an honour to God.
“Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!” (Psalms chapter 107 verses 8)
This show you have total dependence on God.
2. It is because God commands it:
“Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.” (Psalms chapter 100 verses 4)
3. It is because of the dangerous consequences of thankslessness.
15 – “And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
16 – Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.” (Colossians 3 verses 15 to 16)
4. It is worship to God
“Unto thee, O God, do we give thanks, unto thee do we give thanks: for that thy name is near thy wondrous works declare.” (Psalms chapter 75 verses 1)
5. It gives one unrestricted access into the presence of God.
“Surely the righteous shall give thanks unto thy name: the upright shall dwell in thy presence.” (Psalms chapter 140 verses 13)
6. It position one for more blessings.
19 – “And out of them shall proceed thanksgiving and the voice of them that make merry: and I will multiply them, and they shall not be few; I will also glorify them, and they shall not be small.
20 – Their children also shall be as aforetime, and their congregation shall be established before me, and I will punish all that oppress them.” (Jeremiah 30 verses 19 to 20)
7. It is the key for multiplication.
“And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.” (John 6 verses 11)
8. It causes breakthrough and miracle.
4 – “And the smoke of the incense, which came with the prayers of the saints, ascended up before God out of the angel’s hand.
5 – And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were voices, and thunderings, and lightnings, and an earthquake.” (Revelation chapter 8 verses 4 to 5)
