The goal of faithfulness in stewardship
“Most men will proclaim every one his own goodness: but a faithful man who can find?” (Proverbs chapter 20 verses 6)
1 – “Let a man so account of us, as of the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.
2 – Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.” (1Corianthians chapter 4 verses 1 to 2)
A steward is a manager. In one way or the other every individual is involved in stewardship process. People are being appointed into the position of steward and if excepted to anyone who finds him or herself in such enviable position to discharge his or her duties effectively and faithfully. There is no controversy if anyone should be faithful in steward. You must make up your mind for it is expected of you to be faithful in carrying out your responsibilities.
Stewardship is the whole process of being an outstanding steward through undergoing the necessary training, teaching and discharging one’s responsibilities.
Let us quickly have a look at the work faithfulness:
Faithfulness is a rich and enduring quality, that demands one complete loyalty, dedication and consistency.
Let us examine some key words in the definition of faithlessness.
Loyalty:
It is a strong commitment and devotion to a person, group, cause or ideal. It is as steadfast faithfulness that is not easily swayed by temptation to betray or desert. Loyalty can be expressed through thought and action.
Dedication:
This is the quality of being dedicated or committed to a task or purpose.
10 – “He that is faithful in that which is least is faithful also in much: and he that is unjust in the least is unjust also in much.
11 – If therefore ye have not been faithful in the unrighteous mammon, who will commit to your trust the true riches?
12 – And if ye have not been faithful in that which is another man’s, who shall give you that which is your own?
13 – No servant can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.” (Luke chapter 16 verses 10 to 13)
WHY YOU SHOULD BE FAITHFUL
- You were chosen for this very purpose.
“Even as [in His love] He chose us [actually picked us out for Himself as His own] in Christ before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy (consecrated and set apart for Him) and blameless in His sight, even above reproach, before Him in love. (Ephesians chapter 1 verses 4 AMP)
- You were created for this very responsibility.
“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.” (Genesis chapter 1 verses 26)
- You were blessed for this very course.
27 – “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
28 – And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.” (Genesis chapter 1 verses 27 to 28)
- You are made for great impact.
“Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. (Jeremiah chapter 1 verses 5)
- You are in to reveal God’s glory.
14 – “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15 – Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
16 – Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (Mathew chapter 5 verses 14 to 16)
- You are in for multiplication and accountability.
20 – “And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.
21 – His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” (Mathew chapter 25 verses 20 to 21)
