The courageous leader
One of the factors that guarantees success in leadership is that the leader will be strong and courageous. Anyone who is not strong cannot stand the heat of leadership and anyone who is not courageous cannot withstand the threat of leadership. The fact remains that leadership comes with so much pressure. If one has not made up his or her mind towards that direction, it will be difficult for him or her to accept leadership as one of the reason he or she was sent on earth.
Leadership is beautiful! Being a courageous leader is much more beautiful. Leadership is like a car, while the leader is the driver. Whoever that drives the car matters alot. You see, there are beautiful cars you see on the way, and the way the person driving is going about it, it will be as though you are the one driving that particular car. Some so much pamper those cars in a manner that they don’t want any scratch on the car. But that is never the issue, most of them are afraid of driving.
The fact remains that leadership comes with so much pressure.
Being careful is very important as it is part of the ingredients that spices leadership but that does not mean one will spend all his time living a life of just being careful. Leadership requires one to be strong and courageous for there are days when one will be out and he will be required to take the bull by horns since that is the only way to act at that moment for things not to experience an ugly outcome.
I have come across people who want to be careful at every point in time of their leadership so that they will not offend anyone and avoid what people will say. I have disclosed to some of them that, no matter how careful you want to be in discharging your leadership, people will get offended. And no matter how careful you are, people will still talk about your leadership style. Yes, people will always criticize.
Yes, people will always criticize.
You can’t live your life as a leader trying to please everyone. That is very risky. Human being, no matter how you try, cannot be satisfied to an extent. They will always need more from you. Those who live their lives to please people at any point of their leadership, most of them have actually crumbled their leadership. Some found out in the days of controversy and discomfort they were standing alone, because those who would have stood with them in the time controversy and discomfort never developed the right attitude to do so.
You don’t develop a strong army by trying to please them at every point in their lives. Where is the place of rebuke and correction. There are times you pass them through processes or allow them go through processes to build up their capabilities and create the mentality of a warrior in them. Nothing is as beautiful as when one journey through the process of leadership, in the midst of obstacles and challenges, he will see his subordinates eager to face the obstacles and challenges with a victorious mindset.
You can’t live your life as a leader trying to please everyone
God that is the author of leadership wants anyone who will assume the place of leadership to be strong and courageous. The task ahead might be tough. The journey some times will get tough. You have to be the true mirror as a leader to your followers. Looking at you, they will understand what it takes to be strong and courageous in the midst of all things and they will live to develop the likemind attitude.
7 – “Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.
8 – This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
9 – Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.” (Joshua chapter 1 verses 7 to 9)
The journey some times will get tough
God’s greatest desire to you as a leader is for you to be strong and courageous. Being courageous in the act of leadership should be an act of attitude. You have to note that God is trusting you for what He will do in you and through you. You just have to be strong and courageous. Being courageous is laying your trust in God.
Conclusion
You are a born leader. Leadership is not for the passive. But even if you are a weakling as you follow diligently you will stir up and build the right mental attitude of being strong and courageous.
