The beauty of service
13 – “Your words have been stout against me, saith the LORD. Yet ye say, What have we spoken so much against thee?
14 – Ye have said, It is vain to serve God: and what profit is it that we have kept his ordinance, and that we have walked mournfully before the LORD of hosts?
15 – And now we call the proud happy; yea, they that work wickedness are set up; yea, they that tempt God are even delivered.
16 – Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.
17 – And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.
18 – Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.” (Malachi chapter 3 verses 13 to 18)
It is quite amazing we found ourselves been enrolled in the service of taking charge of the earth. We are also enrolled into the service of His kingdom. It is vital to know that it is God Almighty that enrolled us into the service of the kingdom so that we can reveal His glory. We count it of a great priviledge to be among the chosen for this very service.
There is everything unique about the service one renders in God’s kingdom. The pride of service is the very fact we are counted worthy and we count an honour and a priviledge. Men of old had better understanding towards service in God’s vineyard. Everyone has a place in the service of the kingdom. No one was ever created to be idle in the kingdom. There is something about each individual that he or she owes it to this generation.
“For a day in thy courts is better than a thousand. I had rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God, than to dwell in the tents of wickedness.” (Psalms chapter 84 verses 10)
The highest priviledge and honour anyone will obtain is serving the Lord God Almighty without being a burden. There is a great reward for anyone who faithfully serves the Lord God Almighty, His ministers and His ministry. God may not pay now as some persons presume but one thing is sure as we press on in doing the good work to propagate the gospel everywhere, God will surely pay us. God pays in due season, it can’t be hidden.
“And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.” (Galatians chapter 6 verses 9)
7 amazing beauty of service
- Divine Prosperity:
“If they obey and serve him, they shall spend their days in prosperity, and their years in pleasures.” (Job chapter 36 verses 11)
There is no one who is in obedient and has a willingness of heart to serve the Lord in spirit and in truth who will end up in abject penury and regret. Though it might take time but it will surely end in praise.
No one will genuinely serve God and end up in shame. For he derives so much pleasure in the prosperity of His people. It is essential to note that service to God turns one into an asset rather than a liability.
“Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant.” (Psalms chapter 35 verses 27)
- Divine Distinction:
“17 – And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels; and I will spare them, as a man spareth his own son that serveth him.
“18 – Then shall ye return, and discern between the righteous and the wicked, between him that serveth God and him that serveth him not.” (Malachi chapter 3 verses 17 to 18)
You must prove how precious you are through your service to God. It is one’s service to God that will distinguish him or her. You can’t be distinguished as a precious jewel of God if you are not a person who observes diligent service to God.
- Divine Memorial:
“Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.” (Malachi chapter 3 verses 16)
Whatever service one genuinely renders to God will never go unnoticed. It might seem as though nothing is happening how, but there is a remembrance to every sincere act of service to God. According to the scripture above there is a book of remembrance that has the record of any genuine service rendered in the house of God.
It is necessary to know that none of the service to God and the kingdom will ever be in vain. We must be rewarded for what we have done for the advancement of the kingdom agenda.
“For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.” (Hebrews chapter 6 verses 10)
- Divine Protection:
“Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.” (Malachi chapter 3 verses 16)
From the scripture above we are able to realise that the Lord God Almighty is after those who are of service to Him and the kingdom. It is not so with those who are liabilities to Him and the kingdom. Never you forget that it is service to the kingdom purpose and agenda that makes one an asset to God. God is a business God. Just like every other business man, they know how to maximize assets and minimize liabilities.
- Divine Health:
“And ye shall serve the LORD your God, and he shall bless thy bread, and thy water; and I will take sickness away from the midst of thee.” (Exodus chapter 23 verses 25)
It is impossible to faithfully serve God in sincerity of heart and not obtain divine health. The fact remains that God is ever mindful about those who serve Him in spirit and in truth. God will preserve His assets with everything to keep everyone in sound health. For anyone who serves genuinely, you are tool in God’s hands and He will always want to keep you in good shape for maximum effectiveness, efficiency and profitability.
- Divine Honour:
“Wherefore the LORD God of Israel saith, I said indeed that thy house, and the house of thy father, should walk before me for ever: but now the LORD saith, Be it far from me; for them that honour me I will honour, and they that despise me shall be lightly esteemed.” (1Samuel chapter 2 verses 30)
Quality service is an honour to God. When you render service without any sentiment attached to it, but from an act of pouring your love to God for His faithfulness in your life, you are actually honouring Him. Of course, the Lord God Almighty will always honour those that honour Him.
“Whoso keepeth the fig tree shall eat the fruit thereof: so he that waiteth on his master shall be honoured.” (Proverbs chapter 27 verses 18)
The wisest man who ever lived said, anyone who is diligent in service will receive the Master’s honour. Let us be the servant that will serve diligently for the Master’s reward.
- Divine Impartation:
8 – “And Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped it together, and smote the waters, and they were divided hither and thither, so that they two went over on dry ground.
9 – And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.” (2Kings chapter 2 verses 8 to 9)
There is no controversy about this that those who are ready and qualified to receive the double portion of the grace upon the ministry and the ministers are those who were able to serve diligently and faithfully.
Conclusion:
“For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which ye have shewed toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister.” (Hebrews chapter 6 verses 10)
Service is the pathway to greatness and distinction in life. Those who are promoted and elevated in life are those who live to embraced the role of service. Service may not have paid in days, weeks or months but when it pays, it will pay hugely.
