The attitude of the kingdom
3 – “Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
4 – Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.
5 – Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6 – Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7 – But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8 – And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
9 – Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
10 – That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 – And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians chapter 2 verses 3 to 11)
- Humility:
“By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life.” (Proverbs chapter 22 verses 4)
“Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:” (1Peter chapter 5 verses 6)
- Willingness:
23 – “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;” (Colosians 3 verses 23)
“If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:” (Isaiah chapter 1 verses 19)
Serve God willing and not by compulsion.
- Serve God with all your heart.
“And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,” (Deuteronomy chapter 10 verses 12)
23 – “And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
24 – Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ.” (Colosians 3 verses 23 to 24)
- Serve God with a pure conscience.
“I thank God, whom I serve from my forefathers with pure conscience, that without ceasing I have remembrance of thee in my prayers night and day;” (2Timothy chapter 1 verses 3)
“Having a good conscience; that, whereas they speak evil of you, as of evildoers, they may be ashamed that falsely accuse your good conversation in Christ.” (1Peter chapter 3 verses 16)
- Serve God in sincerity and in truth.
14 – “Now therefore fear the LORD, and serve him in sincerity and in truth: and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the flood, and in Egypt; and serve ye the LORD.
15 – And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.” (Joshua chapter 24 verses 14 to 15)
10 – “As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
11 – If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.” (1Peter chapter 4 verses 10 to 11)
- Serve God diligently and in zeal.
“Not slothful in business; fervent in spirit; serving the Lord;” (Romans 12 verses 11)
“But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.” (Hebrews chapter 11 verses 6)
- Serve God with total focused and attention.
“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” (Mathew chapter 6 verses 33)
“One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.” (Psalms chapter 27 verses 4)
- God requires faithfulness in service.
“And Moses verily was faithful in all his house, as a servant, for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken after;” (Hebrews chapter 3 verses 5)
20 – “And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.
21 – His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” (Mathew chapter 25 verses 20 to 21)
