Soul winning in adversity
Soul winning is the heart beat of God. Wherever you are, or where you find yourself, there are those you are meant to reach out to.
1 – “And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time, there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem, and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles.
2 – And devout men carried Stephen to his burial and made great lamentation over him.
3 – As for Saul, he made havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison.
4 – Therefore, they that were scattered abroad went everywhere preaching the word.
5 – Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preached Christ unto them.
6 – And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.
7 – For unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.
8 – And there was great joy in that city.” (Acts chapter 8 verses 1 to 8)
We as believers have to come to the understanding that Jesus actually came on earth for souls. Souls were perishing and Jesus came to save the souls that was perishing. That is why the ultimate goal of every believer is soul winning and for him or her to be a soul winner. You will lost the true content of Christianity when there is no place for soul winning. Christianity is all about soul winning, reconciling men and women, young and old to God. Christianity is well understood from the point of soul winning. You are saved to save others. Christianity is not about you, it is about bringing everyone under the Lordship of our Lord and Master Jesus Christ.
The early church understood her purpose and was committed to that. They understood the first principle of soul-winning. The first principle of soul winning states that you are won to win others. They understood there are people attached to individual destiny. No one was ever created to be an island. Wherever you are, or where you find yourself, there are those you are meant to reach out to.
Man with the present of eyes could not see clearly beyond the physical.
Soul-winning was a serious responsibility of the early church. Everyone was committed and dedicated to seeing others embrace our Lord Jesus Christ through their preaching of the gospel. The second principle of soul-winning states that salvation is as important to others as it is important to you. When you are privileged to encounter and embrace our Lord and Master Jesus Christ through accepting the finished work of Christ Jesus on the cross, that is a great moment for everyone.
Of course, when you get saved, that is the greatest moment for everyone. That was the moment you were taking out of the bondage of the enemy that is encroached with deep darkness into the marvellous light of God Almighty. All through the captivity of the enemy, humanity has been walking through the process of life in obscurity. Man with the present of eyes could not see clearly beyond the physical. That is why one of the deadly places to dwell is in darkness.
Everyone wants to see things the way they are and experience life to its fullness.
Everyone has experienced the dark phase, and he or she trusts for a day that he or she will gain the freedom and privilege to be able to see things as they are. No one can ever see and experience things as they are dwelling in obscurity. There is nothing beautiful dwelling in darkness. Everyone seeks the light. Everyone wants to see things the way they are and experience life to its fullness.
“But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are a kingdom of priests, God’s holy nation, his very own possession. This is so you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.” (1Peter chapter 2 verses 9 NLT)
The early church was so much enveloped with the knowledge that they were once blind, but now they can see. The finished work of Christ Jesus on the cross and His resurrection brought everyone who believes and accepts Him from darkness into His wonderful light. It is never just a light that shines. There is everything wonderful about this very light that Jesus was able to bring to us through paying the ultimate price ever to redeem mankind from the captivity of satan and his agents into His wonderful light.
No matter how anyone in his or her capacity tries to make things happen, there will be so many roadblocks on the way.
Those who genuinely experience such light, never keep it to themselves. They are eager to share with others the wonderful they are enjoying for embracing the finished work of Christ Jesus on the cross. No matter how anyone in his or her capacity tries to make things happen, there will be so many roadblocks on the way. It is embracing Jesus Christ into one’s life by accepting the finished work on the cross that will change the status quo in the life of the people.
Adversaries could not stop the early church from testifying about this wonderful light that, when it shines, leaves no trace of shadow. It is the light when it shines through someone’s life; it can turn things around and leave no trace of the past. In Christ Jesus, there is no past. When He paid for man’s redemption, He paid for everything.
The gospel brings deep transformation to the life of anyone who received it.
“What this means is that those who become Christians become new persons. They are not the same anymore, for the old life is gone. A new life has begun! (2Corinthians chapter 2 verses 17 NLT)
No one becomes a Christian and remains the same person. There is a deep transformation that takes place whenever the gospel is preached and people give their lives to Christ Jesus. This experience was such kind of unique one that everywhere they found themselves, they were eager to share their new kind of life in Christ Jesus, which has given them a reason to live and live in abundance and fulfil life. The gospel brings deep transformation to the life of anyone who received it.
Conclusion:
We are meant to preach the good news, which is the gospel of our Lord and Master Jesus Christ, when it is convenient and when it is not convenient. At all times, anywhere we find ourselves, we have to preach the gospel to someone. The mission goal is one more soul for Jesus.
