Purge yourself into the vessel of honour
19 – “Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
20 – But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
21 – If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.” (2Timothy chapter 2 verses 19 to 21)
No one becomes a vessel of honour who did not first make up his or her mind.
It is obvious that it is an individual’s responsibility to purge oneself into the vessel of honour. No one becomes a vessel of honour who did not first make up his or her mind. The willingness to become and going into action will bring one’s desires into reality. If there is no willingness, it will be difficult for any positive impact to take place. No one can force someone into becoming what he or she has not made up his or her mind to be.
It is amazing that many did not believe that they have the power to purge themselves from any wrong doing and set themselves as vessels of honour for the Master’s used. If anyone did not come to the conclusion that he or she needs to change from his or her wrong way to step into the right way God has set for him or her even before the foundation of the earth.
The foundation of the Lord God stands sure
The scripture above made it clear that the standard of God cannot be compromised by any means. The foundation of the Lord God stands sure. You have to take the decision and make up your mind to purge yourself from everything that has been a stain to hinder you from becoming the right vessel for the Master’s use.
The scripture says, “And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.” The vessel that will meet the Master’s used must be ride of iniquity. To be free from iniquity is individual’s responsibility. I am not undermining the finished work of Christ Jesus on the cross by asking anyone to go to the cross to share his or her blood the same way our Lord and Master Jesus Christ did.
Here is the Word of God, if one desires to be the right vessel for the Master’s use, he or she will take up the responsibility to depart from sin
We all need to go to the cross where self was crucified. We all need to go to the cross were greed was crucified. We all need to go the cross where selfishness and self-centeredness was crucified. We all need to go to the cross where envy, jealousy and bitterness was crucified. We need to go to the cross where fraudsters, fault witness and hatred was crucified. We all need to go to cross where every evil deeds and characters has been dealt with. We all need to go to cross where our Lord and Master Jesus Christ said it is finished and appropriated His finished work on the cross into our lives.
The scripture above made it clear that there are some tendencies that those who claim to called by name of Christ are still harbouring sins. Here is the Word of God, if one desires to be the right vessel for the Master’s use, he or she will take up the responsibility to depart from sin. If he or she fails to take up the responsibility to depart from iniquity, he or she is making the finished work of Christ Jesus on the cross in vain.
God cannot go against the will of anyone
We are saved to save others. To be saved is an all round thing every believer needs to understand. Jesus went all the way from Gethsemane to Golgotha to calvary tree where He was crucified for the sins of mankind and the world, He descended into hell where He fought the ultimate battle for the complete redemption of mankind. He arose on the third day, granted us victory over every reproach and placed mankind to his place of dominion and authority.
Jesus did this for us and if anyone will live to become the vessel for the Master’s use, he or she has a part of the responsibility to take to make that effective. God cannot go against the will of anyone. Whatever one desires that is how far God can use him or her. Jesus paved the way for mankind to access God, mankind has the responsibility to subject him or herself to complete discipline of discipleship to be able to meet the vessel for the Master’s use.
Paul said he was the one who put his body under subjection
“But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.” (1Corianthians chapter 9 verses 27)
At this juncture, the hard way is the only way. You have to take it up for the foundation of the Lord God stands sure. Paul said he was the one who put his body under subjection. It was not God’s responsibility for Paul. It was Paul’s responsibility for his destiny and its fulfillment. It was Paul’s responsibility for himself to be the right vessel for the Master’s use. Failure to take up such responsibility can elude him from God flowing through him mightily.
There are vessels which cannot stand the heat of time
“But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.” (2Timothy chapter 2 verses 20)
Do not be deceived, in a great house there are many vessels. You see, there are different vessels with different purposes. There are vessels which cannot stand the heat of time. There vessels if you subject them to pressure they will melt. Some will break into pieces and become a waste. But there are also vessels which can withstand any level of heat. No matter the pressure they are subjected to, they will fulfill their responsibilities, come out stronger and better. That is the vessel of honour.
Conclusion
The vessel of honour is the vessel that brings honour to the Master. You have to deliberately purge yourself from anything that will want to steal your value to become a vessel of honour for the Master’s use.
“If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.” (2Timothy chapter 2 verses 21)
Do not forget it is an individual’s responsibility to purge him or herself for the Master’s use. How far you will be used by the Master is dependent on your yielding to become the vessel for the Master’s use.
