Never you entertained murmuring
Why did God despite the disobedience of the children of Israel give them what they wanted?
4 – “And the mixt multitude that was among them fell a lusting: and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, Who shall give us flesh to eat?
5 – We remember the fish, which we did eat in Egypt freely; the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlick:
6 – But now our soul is dried away: there is nothing at all, beside this manna, before our eyes.
7 – And the manna was as coriander seed, and the colour thereof as the colour of bdellium.
8 – And the people went about, and gathered it, and ground it in mills, or beat it in a mortar, and baked it in pans, and made cakes of it: and the taste of it was as the taste of fresh oil.
9 – And when the dew fell upon the camp in the night, the manna fell upon it.
10 – Then Moses heard the people weep throughout their families, every man in the door of his tent: and the anger of the LORD was kindled greatly; Moses also was displeased.
11 – And Moses said unto the LORD, Wherefore hast thou afflicted thy servant? and wherefore have I not found favour in thy sight, that thou layest the burden of all this people upon me?
12 – Have I conceived all this people? have I begotten them, that thou shouldest say unto me, Carry them in thy bosom, as a nursing father beareth the sucking child, unto the land which thou swarest unto their fathers?
13 – Whence should I have flesh to give unto all this people? for they weep unto me, saying, Give us flesh, that we may eat.
14 – I am not able to bear all this people alone, because it is too heavy for me.” (Numbers chapter 11 verses 4 to 14)
The instruction was that they should not gather more than they can finish except on the day before sabbath
In the above scripture, the bible recorded that the children of Israel became very hungry for meat. They began to murmur and demand to go back to Egypt where they ate cucumbers, onions and garlic. Did you know they got hungry at one point and began to murmur for food then God sent manna. The bible recorded that it was so light and it tasted like wafers. The instruction was that they should not gather more than they can finish except on the day before sabbath.
Back to our story, they craved for meat. Moses cried to God then in anger God sent them meat that it covered the land, more than they can finish. Did you think it ended there? As they were eating, God began to kill them until Moses prayed for intervention. Did they learn their lesson? No!
Negative report is devastating
They were given instruction to send representatives to the promised land to scout and bring report so they will know the next course of action. They went quite all right but what was the report they brought back? They brought negative reports forgetting the good things they saw there which completely killed the morale of the rest of their brethren. Negative report is devastating.
27 – “And they told him, and said, We came unto the land whither thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it.
28 – Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, and very great: and moreover we saw the children of Anak there.
29 – The Amalekites dwell in the land of the south: and the Hittites, and the Jebusites, and the Amorites, dwell in the mountains: and the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and by the coast of Jordan.
30 – And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.
31 – But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.” (Numbers chapter 13 verses 27 to 31)
They murmured and wanted to return to Egypt. Their murmuring brought God down to the tabernacle.
For this any Israelite that was 20 years and above was not going to see the promised land except Caleb ana Joshua. What do you think of this? Has murmuring ever solved anything? Rather it makes matters worse. Do you think throwing away your faith, morals and integrity will solve that issue? Do you think taking the easy route will get you to your promised land?
There is a reason for every hardship. It is not an avenue for criticisms or comparison. Take a mental tour of the times you murmured and what happened next. God decided knowing the kind of people these Israelites are to give them the long route to canon instead of the direct route. Why? Because at that point they got hungry, some may have decided to go back. How are you sure that if God gives you the easy route to success that you will stay faithful. You are all lovely dovey with God when everything is okay but what happens when things are not working as planned? Do you enter voice mail?
Conclusion:
Do you question God? Murmuring is a habit you need to quit without fail because it’ is an easy access point for the devil.
