Man is a covenant being
The course of covenant is not as though it is a new phenomenon that was introduced into the christendom causing people to be serious with their walk with God. It will interest everyone that covenant was in place even before God stepped out from the foundation of the earth. I know your mood must have changed hearing this, but that is the sincere knowledge that will guide and keep anyone who desires to have a genuine walk with God and meet the Lord God Almighty at last with a sweet smile.
“According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:” (Ephesians chapter 1 verses 4)
When God chose us for Himself to be holy and without blame was done on a basic. You need to understand what happened in Genesis chapter 1 verses 26, God cut a covenant with man that the Trinity was a witness to that.
It will interest everyone that covenant was in place even before God stepped out from the foundation of the earth
“And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.”
There is a covenant that guides the Trinity. If man is created in God’s image and likeness, that made man the fourth person in Trinity and that made man a god. It was that covenant that existed within the Trinity that man was ushered into by God’s trust to humanity. Covenant is about trust. You cannot cut a covenant with someone you cannot trust.
I was born in Anglican. Anglican has two sacraments, baptism and holy communion. I want us to focus on infant baptism. I did infant baptism as an Anglican but the fact was that I was initiated into the family of God through baptism by my godparents. When the priest will stand to ask who are those standing as the spiritual parents of this baby, they show up and stand beside the baby. When further questions are asked, they stand to give the assurance that they will take upon themselves to see that the baby grows in the full knowledge and the status of God Almighty.
If man is created in God’s image and likeness, that made man the fourth person in Trinity and that made man a god
Because the baby at the infant stage could not talk for him or herself that is why their is need for representatives and witnesses. The priest will go ahead to spread water on the baby covenants the baby into the God’s family through the name of the Father, the name of the Son and the name of the Holy Spirit. The baby got into covenant by sprinkling of water and mentioning the name of God the Father, God the son and God the HolySpirit.
1 – “What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
2 – God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
3 – Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
4 – Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
5 – For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
6 – Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.” (Romans chapter 6 verses 1 to 6)
Jesus was dedicated as an infant but he was baptised as an adult
When the first Adam came on board, he experienced covenant into God bodies by infant. But when the Jesus showed up, even when He had covenants into the God’s bodies because He is God in the flesh. Jesus was dedicated as an infant but he was baptised as an adult. People should know what they get themselves into when they partake in the baptism of Christ Jesus. It is not ordinary as some persons may think it. That is why after His resurrection and during the end of His ministry Jesus said,
18 – “And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
19 – Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:” (Mathew chapter 28 verses 18 to 19)
This is why infant baptism is not really approved by some denominations. Baptism is more of a covenant.
Conclusion
Covenant is an agreement between two entities that agreed to share a mutual trust with an oath and swearing of an oath introduced another entity which is a superior power. We need to understand that man is a covenant being from the origin.
