Learning the tool for effective leadership
1 – “Now after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying,
2 – Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.
3 – Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.
4 – From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast.
5 – There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
6 – Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.
7 – Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.
8 – This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” (Joshua chapter 1 verses 1 to 8)
Learning is the light that shines through and brightens the path of a leader, and chases away limitations from the angle of ignorance
Learning is the first tool every one who desires to become an effective leader should cherish. Anyone who aims to become an effective leader who does not admire the learning process, will never amount to any significance in leadership. When learning fails to be the order of the day to any one who longs to become effective and efficient in his leadership, obscurity will definitely encroach.
As important as the sun light is in the breaking of the day, to brighten the whole places and chased away darkness from encroaching, so is learning on the part of leadership. Learning is the light that shines through and brightens the path of a leader, and chases away limitations from the angle of ignorance. Learning is a very important factor to acquire the true art of effective leadership.
Learning is living and knowledge is power
Learning is a vital commodity to the life of a leader which will enable and equip him to be able to discharge his leadership responsibility effectively. Learning is the petrol that constantly assists whenever one turns on the engine of leadership so he will arrive at a pleasant ending. Learning will definitely show you the path that is safe to drive one’s leadership through.
Learning is living. If your ultimate goal is to get to the pinnacle of your leadership career and remains a transformational leader, learning should be a life style. You can’t do without learning if you are dreaming to exhibit and become a successful leader. There is no genuine, successful and transformational leader who is not a person that loves knowledge. Learning is living and knowledge is power.
Learning is never an act of when it is convenient
No one can know the full process to lead effectively who does stirs up the attitude of learning. If learning is burdensome to an individual, exercise effective leadership will be far away. I have encountered on several occasions people who keep telling me that there greatest challenge is to sit and read. Some of them throw in jokes in the process that they don’t know the last time they have opened a book to read. It might sound cool to some of them as one will force them into reading but that is foolishness on the part of leadership.
I am not talking of those who intend or aspire to be leaders some day. I am talking of those who are occupying leadership positions and exercising leadership. Learning is never an act of when it is convenient. Learning is an act of when you remember your position, knowing full well that there are people looking up to you whom you will never want to fail but to lead them right, then you cherish the act to get more oil in your vessel that will sustain your leadership all day long.
Anything that makes one to decline from learning, will definitely gets the person stuck in the process
Failure in learning is a huge threat to leadership. There is no controversy about the devastation of not being a candidate who love knowledge. Anything that makes one to decline from learning, will definitely gets the person stuck in the process. No one was ever born a leader who cannot discharge his leadership effectively to bring changes in the society thereby making the earth a better place than we met it.
God warned against those who lack the zeal to go after knowledge, and yet want to excel and do tremendous impact as a leader. It does not work that way. You must stir up the desire of learning culture if you will stand the test of time to tell your story to the younger generation how you become a transformational leader and the price you were able to pay.
Conclusion:
“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.” (Hosea chapter 4 verses 6)
You can see how much God dislikes ignorance. It is in the act of learning that one becomes knowledgeable. Knowledge is far from them who despise learning. When learning becomes a lifestyle, the sky becomes a stepping stone.
