Leadership begins with oneself
We have to come to the understanding to acknowledge that leadership begins with oneself. Leadership is beyond occupying a position, leadership is about being able to lead. If you must lead, you will first of all lead yourself. If you must lead effectively, you must first of all lead yourself effectively. One can actually examine him or herself to know if he is she can lead. If you can’t lead yourself effectively, you can’t lead others effectively. Leadership starts with leading one’s life before leading others. There is no controversy about how the leadership of someone who cannot lead oneself will turn out. Such leadership is likely to up in obscurity.
There are those who are wounded and they have not properly undergone the healing process to get their heart shaped in the right position before they assumed the leadership position. They end up hurting people more than they cause good. They want those they lead to feel the pains in their hearts. They desire to lead to cause impact but they can’t lead different from the state of their heart. A leader with a wounded heart will cause much hurt to the followers. Even when he or she does not want to hurt, he or she will end up hurting.
“For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee; but his heart is not with thee.” (Proverbs chapter 23 verses 7)
There is no controversy about how the leadership of someone who cannot lead oneself will turn out
A leader cannot give what he or she does not have. It is what saturates one’s heart that he or she will live and lead to display. A wounded heart is a wounded person; a wounded person is a wounded leader; a wounded leader is a threat to leadership. It is assume as the eader so are his people. A friend of mine once told me when she was combatting with the issue of hurt that she like to see people been hurt. She said because she was abuse verbally by her father, she was deeply hurt. At one of the occasions, one of her lecturers asked write down one thing you like doing.
She quickly replied that she like seeing people been hurt. That it gives her joy when she hurt people because that is the state of her heart. She will always want to Express the state of her heart because that is the only way people get to know what she has been through and feel what she is feeling. But today she is a different person and a great leader. Her heart has been healed by God Almighty and she is now a strong and a courageous leader.
A wounded heart is a wounded person; a wounded person is a wounded leader; a wounded leader is a threat to leadership
You will attract who you are. Wounded people end up attracting wounded people to him or herself. This is what I come to found out in couple of years as a leader. Once wounded persons arrives in a place, it would not be long, he or she will start interacting and becoming close to each other. They always believe it is only them who are wounded understand the pain of each other. The worse of it all is when the wounded critical advise that will enable him or her avail over the wounded heart. A wounded leader who refused to undergo the right treatment is attributed to be blind. Of course a blind person cannot lead effectively.
“Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.” (Mathew chapter 15 verses 14)
The question is, if you were yourself, would you allow yourself to be lead by you,
It is obvious the blind cannot lead himself. Why then pretend you can see when all you need at the moment is to submit yourself for a deep hauling. You need to get yourself fixed . You really need help for yourself before thinking of others. The question is, if you were yourself, would you allow yourself to be lead by you, if you can sincerely answer this question, it will put you in the right place of your leadership.
Leadership will find you out and reveal who you are. You have to understand that you are born a leader. If you desire to lead right, you need to take yourself for diagnosis. You need to be fit for the responsibility you are about to step in, if not you may live to regret the whole process. You have to love and accept who you are. If you are still doubting your personality, who then did you want to believe you? You have to believe yourself then people will have no choice than to believe you..
Conclusion
Asking the right questions will enable you find your pace in leading oneself right and extend it to others. No one will ever take the risk to follow a wounded leader. You can always get yourself sorted out and fixed if there is any trace of abnormalities.
