Jesus prayed for his disciples
It is wise for every believer to know that Jesus prayed for his disciples and He is still praying for the saint. We have to come to the truth that we are not into this alone. Jesus promised us He will fully be with us in the great commission till the end of every believer’s journey here on earth.
If the burden of prayer is upon you, it is because Jesus has been praying for you that some day you will rise up and take full responsibility in the place of prayer. That Jesus is praying for the saint is never a reason for any believer to go to sleep, for the reason Jesus prays for the saint is a call for awakening to every believer who desires to be in charge and exercise full dominion.
“My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:” (1John chapter 2 verses 1 KJV)
Full dominion on earth is never for believers who does not value the place of prayer, full dominion is for them who understand and placed so much value and cherish the place of prayer.
Jesus’s prayer for His disciples
1 – “These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:
2 – As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.
3 – And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
4 – I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.
5 – And now, O Father, glorify thou me with thine own self with the glory which I had with thee before the world was.
6 – I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me, and they have kept thy word.
7 – Now they have known that all things whatsoever thou hast given me are of thee.
8 – For I have given unto them the words which thou gavest me; and they have received them, and have known surely that I came out from thee, and they have believed that thou didst send me.
9 – I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine.
10 – And all mine are thine, and thine are mine, and I am glorified in them.
11 – And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.
12 – While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.
13 – And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves.
14 – I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
15 – I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil.
16 – They are not of the world, even as I am not of the world.
17 – Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.
18 – As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.
19 – And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.
20 – Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;
21 – That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
22 – And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:
23 – I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.
24 – Father, I will that they also, whom thou hast given me, be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.
25 – O righteous Father, the world hath not known thee: but I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me.
26 – And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.” (John chapter 17 verses 1 to 26)
One of the prayers Jesus made concerning His disciples is that the ministry that is handed to them should never be lost
We have come to the knowledge that Jesus does not have prayer failure. Whatever He asked of the Father, is already a done deal. Jesus took full responsibility for everything that concerned His disciples. Towards the end of His ministry, He deemed it wise to seize such an awesome opportunity to bring and present His disciples before the Father for guidance and preservation all through their ministry.
One of the prayers Jesus made concerning His disciples is that the ministry that is handed to them should never be lost. This responsibility of making men, if care is not taken there, is a great avenue that they may forsake the whole process and go back to their doings. There is a need to preserve what Jesus started and for it to continue booming until it gets to the outermost part of the world.
Jesus disciples do not need to live below expectations.
Jesus prayed that they may know that this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. John 17:3. This knowing is beyond the head knowledge as some persons may think. This is having the heart to seek to know God beyond head knowledge. This is the knowing of God revealing Himself to you and His plan for you to live an effective, efficient and fulfilled life.
Jesus prayed that His disciples would be the right instruments at all times to reveal the glory of God at all times, everywhere. His disciples do not need to live below expectations. That will be a flop to all that Jesus has invested in them. Jesus understood what it took Him through all the teachings and training to bring them to the point where they could go out and perform great impact and miracles in the lives of the people.
Jesus prayed that they would remain united as one.
Jesus prayed that the disciples would remain faithful and maintain the right standing with God for them to remain in the right position where God can flow with them for the greater works to transform the world and make the glory of the Lord God Almighty known to every tribe, language and nation. He prayed that the Father would keep them in proper alignment so that they would not lose balance when the wind of the world blew at them.
Jesus prayed that they would remain united as one. When Jesus was raising His disciples, they were one in all ramifications. None of the disciples was against the mandate except Judas Iscariot who finally betrayed Him. There was one that the Jews could identify who was who. Jesus took so much energy to replicate and manifest Himself in the life of every one of them. They were manifesting the glory of God in the life of every one of them and made Jesus known that He had accomplished His responsibility to raise men for God and the vessels He will use to reflect His glory on earth.
In conclusion:
When Jesus was making this prayer, He was also praying for every one of us who will embrace His finished work on the cross and join the mandate of propagating the gospel, thereby winning the world for God. You and I were among the disciples Jesus was praying for. Today His is at the heavenly places, praying for the saint. The grace to do and perfect His Will has been unleashed unto us, and we have every reason to finish strong.
