Jealousy is a threat to genuine leadership

6 – “And it came to pass as they came, when David was returned from the slaughter of the Philistine, that the women came out of all cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet king Saul, with tabrets, with joy, and with instruments of musick.

7 – And the women answered one another as they played, and said, Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands.

8 – And Saul was very wroth, and the saying displeased him; and he said, They have ascribed unto David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed but thousands: and what can he have more but the kingdom?

9 – And Saul eyed David from that day and forward.

10 – And it came to pass on the morrow, that the evil spirit from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied in the midst of the house: and David played with his hand, as at other times: and there was a javelin in Saul’s hand.

11 – And Saul cast the javelin; for he said, I will smite David even to the wall with it. And David avoided out of his presence twice.

12 – And Saul was afraid of David, because the LORD was with him, and was departed from Saul.” (1Samuel chapter 18 verses 6 to 12)

Once jealousy steps in, the solid and strong team will suddenly become a disabled and feeble team.

Jealousy in leadership has caused much harm than good. It is a factor no genuine leader should ever entertain. Jealousy cripples the progress and success of any leadership. Jealousy is a wrong foundation of leadership to drive on. Any leadership that is driven out of jealousy will surely sink, just a matter of time. One of the factors that could be disastrous for one leadership is jealousy.

Jealousy might sound cool at the beginning but at the later end could sink everything one has worked for. Let every leadership be void of jealousy. Jealousy has the tenacity and the capacity to tear everyone apart and leave the center porous for destruction. The team that once defeated the giant will defeat the giant again and again. Once jealousy steps in, the solid and strong team will suddenly become a disabled and feeble team.

When David fought the fight that no one could fight and conquered, then he became firm and his father’s family in the land.

David was a nobody in the land of Israel.  He was just a diligent shepherd boy. An errand boy of the family. He was sent on an errand when it became obvious to him that there a course on ground. He quickly identified with his people to seek for a way to wipe away the shame from his people and the entire land. He saw the opportunity that no one else could see. He placed a bargain to that and he was able to take up the challenge and conquer the giant which was a great threat to the land of Israel.

King Saul is the king of Israel at the moment and he could not handle the threat that befall the land. No army of the Israelites could rescue them from such mess. When David fought the fight that no one could fight and conquered, then he became firm and his father’s family in the land.

7 – “And the women answered one another as they played, and said, Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands.

8 – And Saul was very wroth, and the saying displeased him; and he said, They have ascribed unto David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed but thousands: and what can he have more but the kingdom?

9 – And Saul eyed David from that day and forward.” (1Samuel chapter 18 verses 7 to 9)

How would someone who claimed to be a leader suddenly developed jealousy over someone who helped him retain his position as the leader.

If it was to be anyone else who defeated giant, that person would receive praises from the women.  The women are happy because the giant would have killed their husbands and made them early windows. They are happy that David saved their fate and that is why they can still enjoy their marriages.

King Saul as the king of Israel was afraid to confront the giant. Here is a youth who helped him destroy the giant, yet that is the same person he became jealous of him. How would someone who claimed to be a leader suddenly develop jealousy over someone who helped him retain his position as the leader. That is never a safe move by any leader.

Conclusion:

When you as a leader suddenly grow jealous over your subordinate who helped clear away the giant off your path, never you forget that you will encounter another giant. When you become an enemy to the giant killer than the giant will handle you. Be aware.
