It is God’s temple, not yours
God formed and made a temple for Himself which happened to be you. It is dangerous to be thinking that life is all about you instead to be thinking about the God that made you His temple. Have you ever imagined how great and mighty God is? The One that created the heaven and the earth. The One that called forth things as though they were. The One in the midst of darkness, He called forth light. How great is the Lord God Almighty.
With God’s greatness and majesty, He looked for a temple where He can dwell in so as to exercise full dominion and authority on the earth. It is obvious you and I did not bargain for it. Yet it pleased God Almighty to make us the temple that He will live and dwell in. What a privilege and honour it is that God fearfully and wonderfully formed us to be the right and suitable temple where He can rest in.
It pleased God Almighty to make us the temple that He will live and dwell in
I can’t really figure that out. Does God Almighty really need a temple to dwell in to perform His great and marvellous work? On the account of creation from the book of Genesis chapter one, God created the heaven and the earth. He introduced light when there was chaos and the light brightened everywhere. He separated the land from the sea and gave each of them the capacity to reproduce. All things that God created were bright and beautiful. Both great and small were all amazing.
Since temple is that necessary, at which temple was God exhibiting those great and mighty works from? Yes, I do wonder and imagine where was God landing place at the moment He was making the impossible seem possible. It dawned on me that God operate from the altar of heaven. Here is the earth before God Almighty, He looked forth for an altar where He can operate from, He decided to form the physical man into His desired temple where He can dwell.
6 – “But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.
7 – And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” (Genesis chapter 2 verses 6 to 7)
At which temple was God exhibiting those great and mighty works from
These very verses of the scriptures reveal that God went in production by Himself. I thought God would have sent the angels to build a place for Him where he can dwell. You see beloved, when God created spirit man which is a duplication of God self, He needed a vessel in which the spirit man can can wrought great and mighty work, He then decided to form a temple that will be mobile.
The physical man at its initial stage was nothing to write home about. I remember the day of our grandmother’s burial. We went to the mortuary to pick up her body. Inside the casket she was laying down there lifeless. I looked at her, with the thought what is man. I called her native name but she did not respond. Her beauty was gone. Nothing to cherish about her looking at her body, except the good legacy she laid prompted her befitting burial.
The body you are claiming as yours is never yours
Apparently it was then I realised that the physical is good as nothing. The beauty and handsomeness on the people is actually the presence of God Almighty in the physical man. Stop bragging you are nothing without God. The body you are claiming as yours is never yours, it belongs to God and He wants to reveal His glory through you.
“And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” (Genesis chapter 2 verses 7)
From this verse one can distinguish when you are yourself and when God made you His temple. It is criminal to think you made yourself. It is robbing to think you gave yourself life and the breath you are breathing you generated it for yourself. That will be crazy for anyone to think on such perspective. The physical man was lifeless until God made him His temple by breathing the spirit man into it. It was then and there he became a living soul. Are you still the rightful owner of your body? You are never the rightful owner of your body as long as you are still alive.
It was on this revelation that Paul cried on his letter to the church in Rome, in Romans chapter 12 verses 1 through 2, he says,
1 – “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
2 – And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.”
Conclusion
Since the mystery has been revealed to you, you have a role to play here. It was God’s desire to make you His temple. Now you are living it is your responsibility to constantly present your body a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
