HOLD ON TO YOUR BELIEF
18 – “While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, Thy sons and thy daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother’s house:
19 – And, behold, there came a great wind from the wilderness, and smote the four corners of the house, and it fell upon the young men, and they are dead; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee.
20 – Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped,
21 – And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.
22 – In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.” (Job chapter 1 verses 18 to 22)
Whether in good times or in bad times, he has to hold firm his belief
One thing is highly amazing and awesome about Job and his belief system. If this was not recorded in the bible some persons will never believe Job’s story was a reality. It was a horrible process that he went through. And yet he never allowed the ugly scenarios that surrounded him to affect his belief system.
There was opportunity for him to throw away his belief but what then should he believe in. At a point in his life he knew he has to stand by what he believe at all cost. Whether in good times or in bad times, he has to hold firm his belief. You cannot demonstrate a stand on what you do not believe in. What one believes in will experience its true test not in the days of comfort and peace; one’s belief will face the true test in time of discomfort and atrocity.
Everyone has a point in his life when he will pass through test in life
A normal person will prefer never to attain such fame in life and loose bearing of everything he has lived to enjoy. Some persons will wish they never experienced an enviable height in life, than after experiencing such height, after a while everything just wipes away in a twinkle of an eye. Many cannot cope with such encounter and experience of life. Everyone has a point in his life when he will pass through test in life.
Life is uncertain in some issues of life. Things seem to fall apart when people hope there should be stability. It is a world that is full of ups and downs. Anything can happen at anything. No one knows what is going on behind the scene. It is the spiritual that govern the physical. You don’t have to be astonished at what is going on around you, you just have to find out why what is happening is taking place in a time like this.
Everything will seen as though the whole planet earth is turning around, and he is finding the grip to hold on for direction
How can a man stand it that he woke up in the morning, and had a sweet Holy Ghost filled devotion with his family members. God never spoke to him about any incident. His heart never pricked him about any danger. He happily went to work with a cheer to his family, ‘See you when I come back.’ He can’t wait to unite with his children for the evening play and chat. At the moment he was rounding up for his duty at the office after a stressful day, the news came to him that the whole children were involved in an accident and none made it.
He will be in a terrible shock. It will seem to him to be a dream. He can’t believe it is real. So many questions will be going through his head at that moment without any clear answer. Everything will seen as though the whole planet earth is turning around, and he is finding the grip to hold on for direction. He will think about the children one after the other and the good moment and experience they enjoyed even that very morning before he went to work.
How can such a day with such bright light that shine everywhere and leave no trace of darkness suddenly grow dim and turns into deep darkness
He will be paralysed in the spirit that he will struggle to take the next step. It will be as though his own life have come to an end. Nothing will ever make sense to him at that moment. Life will suddenly turn sour and become a commodity of vanity upon vanity. How can such a day with such bright light that shine everywhere and leave no trace of darkness suddenly grow dim and turns into deep darkness.
No one will hear such misfortune without asking so many questions. People cannot believe there is no course going on. People will conclude it is foundational. Some others will say he is the cause behind it. Some other will say that is the only process to renew the flow of his wealth. Some others will conclude, there is no smoke without fire. How can he be the most wealthy person at the moment? Different people with different thoughts and different conclusions. Think about the case of Job.
Conclusion:
What befell Job can befall anyone. In all the process that Job went through he held onto his belief. He stood firm and never allowed any thought that will cause a shake in his relationship with God to infuse him. He conclusion of all this is that he came empty and he will go empty, let God be glorified every condition.
