Having eternity in perspective
“So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” (Psalms chapter 90 verses 12)
9 – “Wherefore we labour, that, whether present or absent, we may be accepted of him.
10 – For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.” (2Corinthians 5 verses 9 to 10)
We cannot live our lives as though earth is our final destination. Man did not come from earth completely. Part of man is from heaven and relates with the things of the spirit and supernatural effectively. Part of man came from the earth that enables man function here in the natural effectively. At the end of everyone’s journey here on earth, the part of man that relates to earth will be left behind while the part of man that came from heaven will ascend for accountability on how he or she spent his or her life here on earth.
1 – “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
2 – Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.
3 – For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.
4 – When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.” (Colosians chapter 3 verses 1 to 4)
This simply means that what is awaiting everyone is death
The worst idea in the race of humanity is when people think they are on earth for a permanent stay without having eternity in perspective. Life is beyond the physical and the natural. Life is more about purpose, its fulfillment and accountability at last. No single person is going to accept the judgement seat of God where every hidden things shall be made plain.
No one will live forever in this planet earth. All the bragging about ‘Do you know who I am?’ The part of you that is making all those bragging is nothing and belongs six feet below the earth. This simply means that what is awaiting everyone is death. Of course, the same manner each of us appeared on earth, so shall everyone exit the earth some day.
Heaven is a prepared place for prepared people
One of the relevant factors to success in life is to learn to consider in the beginning those things that would matter in the end. You cannot begin a journey without a destination in mind. It is that destination that determines the path you would take to reach it. When the destination is not cleared, any direction can serve. But it is never so with heaven. Heaven is a prepared place for prepared people.
In this life, we would always arrive somewhere in just a matter of time. This then begs the question: “Where exactly are you headed?” After you leave this life and depart this terrestrial plane, you would also arrive somewhere. Where will that be? This was obviously part of the musings of the writer of the Book of Hebrews,
“And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the Judgment”(Heb. 9:27)
Death is not the end. After death comes Divine Judgment to determine where and how we would spend Eternity. There is the Righteous Judge waiting for anyone who has concluded his or her journey here on earth. Whatever anyone did here on earth will be played out at the end of his or her journey as he or she appears before the Judgment Seat of Christ.
“For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad.” (2Corinthians chapter 5 verses 10)
How we go about doing things in this present life has the tendency to determine where and how we will eventually spend Eternity. There will be no room for sorting at last when we will appear before the Judgment Seat of Christ. Everything about everyone works here on earth will be played out. Every judgement will be based on record. Let us get our records right now we are still living when the saints are still around.
“So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.” (Psalms chapter 90 verses12)
Conclusion:
15 – “See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,
16 – Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
17 – Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.” (Ephesians chapter 5 verses 15 to 17)
We must live with Eternity in perspective. We must mind in the beginning the things that will matter in the end. Everyday must count, and everyday must be thoroughly maximized towards investing in our Eternal Destiny. When we shall meet our Saviour and Lord Jesus Christ, we will hear Him said, “Welldone, you good and faithful servant.”
