Dealing with sexual immorality
[1] “As for other matters, brothers and sisters, we instructed you how to live in order to please God, as in fact you are living. Now we ask you and urge you in the Lord Jesus to do this more and more.
[2] For you know what instructions we gave you by the authority of the Lord Jesus.
[3] It is God’s will that you should be sanctified: that you should avoid sexual immorality;
[4] that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable,
[5] not in passionate lust like the pagans, who do not know God;
[6] and that in this matter no one should wrong or take advantage of a brother or sister. The Lord will punish all those who commit such sins, as we told you and warned you before.
[7] For God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life.” (1 Thessalonians chapter 4 verses 1 to 7 NIV)
The body is the temple of God given to you to fulfill purpose.
Sexual immorality is a spirit and it is never from God. Every environment has its own dominant spirit. People in the waterline area do suffer the challenges of sexual immorality than other places. Area with high density of fornication tells one the spirit that is dominant that particular area. In such area one can found out that the young people are more into party and they crave to see it as part of life.
Sexual immorality is the greatest sin in the human race before it is done in the body. The body we are talking about was never yours. The body is the temple of God given to you to fulfill purpose. No one was ever created to live a life that will displease God by living and walking contrary to God’s plan concerning that very life.
“Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.” (Revelation chapter 4 verses 11 KJV)
God will always glorify Himself through your body.
This is the temple designed and made by God for His glory. It took God everything to make this temple. Remember, this is a project that God never delegated to angels. Himself knew how suitable it is for Him and He went ahead to fashion it. When you think about your body and what you intend to do, you have to know that this temple is not about you but about God. God owns everything including your body. God will always glorify Himself through your body.
[15] “Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of an harlot? God forbid.
[16] What? know ye not that he which is joined to an harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.
[17] But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.
[18] Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body.
[19] What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
[20] For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” (1 Corinthians chapter 6 verses 15 to 20 KJV)
Before you go ahead to defile this body, you should realise that you are bought with a price. It made Jesus leave His throne, come here on earth and die for our redemption. We were bought with the blood of Jesus Christ. That is to tell us that it took God everything to restore this temple which is your body. And God intends to be glorified through you. God wants you to be a vessel of honour by keeping yourself holy. Once one does not keep his or her body holy, he or she is a vessel of dishonour.
Conclusion :
“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.” (2 Timothy chapter 1 verses 7 KJV)
God wants you to know that you are already holy. God wants you to know that the equipment for holy living is in you. You can live above sexual immorality. God’s grace is sufficient to anyone who desires to live a holy life.
