Changes bring influence in leadership
Leadership is said to be about influence. Everything about leadership is all about influencing people to pick interest in what you are doing and start doing it the right way. You get to understand there is a link between the leader and influencer. That is the link we are interested in as we ponder through the episode. To influence people is a course everyone who wants to be a leader should master.
I remember as a little boy growing up, my immediate elder brother, my cousin and I used to go for fishing. We usually use earthworm as bait whenever we are preparing for fishing. That is the bait we can afford at that moment. The bait is to attract the fish to capture it. If you throw the hook inside the water without any bait, it will never attract the fishes towards its direction. It is never the hook that influences the fish, it is the bait on the hook that influences the fish.
You must have a source of influence if you must lead effectively and efficiently.
Once the huck is released into the water without a bait, no matter how long it stays there, it will not matter make any difference. It will not attract any fish. No single fish will be captured. Of course there will be a course of influence before capture. You see, we are the leaders at the moment standing by the shore of the stream, the hook and the bait is our source to influence the fishes for capture. You must have a source of influence if you must lead effectively and efficiently.
You have to have the understanding that different tools have different operations. The hook released into the stream will be a trap to the fish. The fish instead of coming close will be running away. Yes we know about this and that is why we never tried such. Once there is bait on it, the fish starts seeing food without seeing the hook. It is in eating the food that the fish will realise it is already captured.
There should be a reason why people will want to follow your leading till the end without giving up on you
For anyone to lead and lead effectively and efficiently, he or she must understand what it is to influence people. You don’t force influence on people. Influence is a gradual process. Since to establish influence is the key to effective and efficient leadership, then we will now look deep on what it will take to actually influence people right. You must present an atom of change if you must draw people towards yourself.
People will like to see the changes you are bringing before they will be influenced to follow. Why will people ever think to follow you when they don’t have any reason to follow you? There should be a reason why people will want to follow your leading till the end without giving up on you. Whatever is the source of your influence over the people looking up to you is only known to you. You must develop an art of touching and impact people’s life.
You must let people know you have what it takes to lead right, then people will be ready to follow your leading
1 – In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
2 – And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. (Genesis chapter 1 verses 1 to 2)
If the earth was to be at its state of being without form and void and darkness upon the face of the deep, the earth would have been a complete mess. No one would have sincerely followed the leadership of God. When God went further to introduce light that brightened the whole place and revealed the beauty of every thing. You must let people know you have what it takes to lead right, then people will be ready to follow your leading.
There is no safety following the wrong leadership
If people decide to follow your leadership without any course and they stayed for a while without seeing any course to keep following, some day you will look back to see you were actually taking a walk. Changes in your leadership attract people towards you. Once they come to follow, they will want to see more. Innovations is one of the attributes of a transformational leader.
People will follow anyone who understands the art of leading and he is leading right. No one will want to be lead by the blind. That is very disastrous when it comes to leadership. Everyone intends to be under a leadership where he or she can be safe. There is no safety following the wrong leadership. It will always lead to damnation.

Be an agent of change and your leadership will experience a tremendous level of success. There is no way we can transform the society if we are not candidates of change.
