This is my story
Everyone is a make up of story.
Every one has a story to tell. We are born into a world that is full of challenges. With the challenges of life, everyone was destined to make a story. The bible is an interesting book because it is also full with the history of men and women who diligently yielded their lives in the path of righteousness and God used them to bring great transformation. There are those who failed to yield themselves to the pattern of God and that have actually hindered how far God could flow to reveal His glory through them.
There are those in our present generation who chose to pattern their lives according to the biblical principles to diligently yielded their lives for the kingdom purpose and the Master’s use, the same flow of God’s glory through them was made available. You see, I have come to know that every one has a story to tell. To some, their story will outlive them while to others their story will die with them. Everyone is a make up of story. Every day we live, our lives accumulate events that will make our lives and story interesting.
God Almighty did not write a minority script about anyone.
We have come into the planet earth that is already harbouring challenges. No one in this life will ever say he or she does not have any challenge that he or she is facing and battling in the present time. When you come around anyone who ever discloses to you that he or she is challenge free, I can tell you to run away from such person. He or she is never the right person to be with for a truth he or she is a challenge to this world.
We all come in the volume of book to play the script that was written concerning us by God Almighty Himself that we will live each day in acting this very script. God Almighty did not write a minority script about anyone. Everyone in the script written by God Almighty is on divine responsibility that everyone is in the great picture that God have to make the earth the place of heaven where the glory of God Almighty will be constantly revealed every where as the water cover the sea.
Every challenge that comes our way is an opportunity for us to write and add an important event in our story.
Everyone is so important for the agenda of God in a time like this and that is the reason challenges pop up at one leve or the other to enable us act our part in God’s script effectively and to write individual story well. Each day living is meant for life to count. One of the ways life count is when we are able to play individual part effectively and efficiently to impact and transform the society for better future. That is all about writing one’s story. Every challenge that comes our way is an opportunity for us to write and add an important event in our story.
It is interesting to know that it is the challenges we encountered, confronted, overcome and conquered victoriously that made individual story beautiful. People are waiting to hear how we get this far. People are waiting to hear how we were able to survive through the rigorous way of the valley of the shadows of life challenges and how we were able to navigate through. Everyone understands that it takes alot for one to find his or her way to the top and it takes alot to remain and maintain the place on the top.
David was furious about the whole threat from the enemy’s camp.
On the challenge the Philistines gathered together their armies to battle against the armies of the host of Israel. The armies of Israel gathered themselves together and pitched by the called of Elah preparing combat against the enemy. The Philistines stood on a mountain on the one side, and Israel stood on a mountain on the other side: and there was a valley between them. I can’t really tell what happened but it was recorded that a champion came out from the camp of the Philistines, named Goliath and started threaten the armies of the Israelites to send someone who will challenge him. If this person is able to fight and kill him, then the Philistines will the servant of the Israelites. But if he fight and kill him, then the Israelites will be their servant. This is one thing Israel armies will not want to become servant to any nation. (1Samuel chapter 17 verses 1 to 10)
When David showed up in the scene only to find out what had befallen the armies of Israel, he was furious about the whole threat from the enemy’s camp. He did not hesitate to start negotiating about what can be done about a man who is able to confront, challenge and defeat the enemy. Not minding his age, those around saw the boldness that they who are the armies of Israel were lacking at the moment that they needed someone to stand in that space.
It was his story that convinced the king Saul to let him go and confront Goliath.
David did not pick up such challenge because he was eager to fight to make show of every thing. David was not eager to fight because he was hungry to experience a battle field. David did not confront Goliath because he has learnt what it takes to handle some diligent weapons to pull down the giant. David did not put his life on line, in case he did not win, for it to be say that he died fighting for the liberation and wiping away the shame from the face of Israel when his effort would have made sense. David was eager to pick up such challenge, was bold to face Goliath and was convinced he will defeat Goliath because he had a story to tell.
When he had the opportunity to stand before the king Saul, he did not hesitate disclose his story to the king even when the king Saul tried to discouraged him. He told the king Saul that he had witnessed a close challenges of such kind taking care of his father’s sheep. The lion and bear came after the sheep under his care, he did not hesitate to confront the lion and the bear, and was able to defeat and killed those lion and bear and as well as save the sheep. It was his story that convinced the king Saul to let him go and confront Goliath.
.
31 – “And when the words were heard which David spake, they rehearsed them before Saul: and he sent for him.
32 – And David said to Saul, Let no man’s heart fail because of him; thy servant will go and fight with this Philistine.
33 – And Saul said to David, Thou art not able to go against this Philistine to fight with him: for thou art but a youth, and he a man of war from his youth.
34 – And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father’s sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock:
35 – And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him.
36 – Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God.
37 – David said moreover, The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the LORD be with thee.
38 – And Saul armed David with his armour, and he put an helmet of brass upon his head; also he armed him with a coat of mail.
39 – And David girded his sword upon his armour, and he assayed to go; for he had not proved it. And David said unto Saul, I cannot go with these; for I have not proved them. And David put them off him.
40 – And he took his staff in his hand, and chose him five smooth stones out of the brook, and put them in a shepherd’s bag which he had, even in a scrip; and his sling was in his hand: and he drew near to the Philistine.
41 – And the Philistine came on and drew near unto David; and the man that bare the shield went before him.
42 – And when the Philistine looked about, and saw David, he disdained him: for he was but a youth, and ruddy, and of a fair countenance.
43 – And the Philistine said unto David, Am I a dog, that thou comest to me with staves? And the Philistine cursed David by his gods.
44 – And the Philistine said to David, Come to me, and I will give thy flesh unto the fowls of the air, and to the beasts of the field.
45 – Then said David to the Philistine, Thou comest to me with a sword, and with a spear, and with a shield: but I come to thee in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom thou hast defied.
46 – This day will the LORD deliver thee into mine hand; and I will smite thee, and take thine head from thee; and I will give the carcases of the host of the Philistines this day unto the fowls of the air, and to the wild beasts of the earth; that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel.
47 – And all this assembly shall know that the LORD saveth not with sword and spear: for the battle is the LORD’S, and he will give you into our hands.
48 – And it came to pass, when the Philistine arose, and came and drew nigh to meet David, that David hasted, and ran toward the army to meet the Philistine.
49 – And David put his hand in his bag, and took thence a stone, and slang it, and smote the Philistine in his forehead, that the stone sunk into his forehead; and he fell upon his face to the earth.
50 – So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David.
51 – Therefore David ran, and stood upon the Philistine, and took his sword, and drew it out of the sheath thereof, and slew him, and cut off his head therewith. And when the Philistines saw their champion was dead, they fled.” (1Samuel chapter 17 verses 31 to 51)
Conclusion:
There is no sentiment in approaching the challenges of life. Any challenge one is able to conquer will surface again in a different way. That was the reason David was able to picture Goliath as one of those lions and bears that came after his sheep and he was able to deliver his sheep and kill the lion and bear. We have to make up our stories. Any challenge one fails to confront and conquer will keep surfacing to torment him or her. The story of the challenges you conquered will give the gut and morale to confront other challenges of life and conquer.
