The service leader
42 – “But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and their great ones exercise authority upon them.
43 – But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister:
44 – And whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all.
45 – For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.” (Mark chapter 10 verses 43 to 45)
People rejoice when they secured a leadership position not because they have anything to bring on the table to make the society a better place
It is paramount that some persons have a wrong definition about leadership. During an election, you see people going about campaigning for their positions and how they are going to deliver with them occupying such positions. That was all mere saying. They are all propaganda because they need the vote of the people to enable them secure such position and fulfill their selfish desires. Not that they have the people at heart, but they have themselves and family at heart.
Many understand the place of service in leadership, but they do not understand the place of service to humanity. They only understand the place of service to oneself and close relatives. This is the error that has been going on in the place of leadership and many do not care. People rejoice when they secured a leadership position not because they have anything to bring on the table to make the society a better place. They are in to enrich themselves with the public fund.
When service is not found in the place of leadership, abuse of position is inevitable
Leadership is all about service to humanity and the society at large. Anyone who understands the place of service in leadership ends up leaving an indelible legacy that speak about his or her days in office before he or she left. Service in leadership is a selfless service to humanity. No one is ever a true and genuine leader who did not prove so by the service he or she rendered. Leadership is all about service.
You must develop the heart of service if you must exercise an effective leadership. No one can take away service from leadership and still believe to make an impact. The only process one can make an impact to the life of the people and the society at large is to be a person of service. When service is not found in the place of leadership, abuse of position is inevitable. When leaders fail to deliver the due service, that can bring breech of office.
The art of service is the art of proving one’s leadership
Anyone who does not understand the art of service does not understand leadership. Service is the only way to prove oneself that one is capable of leading. Failure in leadership is never that the right persons were not elected, failure in leadership is when those who were elected fail in the place to render service. Any leadership that does not define its worth on service is bound not to cause any significant impact.
Jesus the greatest leader of all time made it clear that anyone who desires to be the greatest among other should be conversant with the art of service. Service is the key to experience exploit in leadership. Leadership is not really about how much one has acquired, leadership is about stirring up the heart of leadership. Leadership counts when service counts. The art of service is the art of proving one’s leadership.
Failure in the place of service is failure in leadership
No one will be remembered by the leadership position he or she occupied. Everyone will be remembered by what he or she has done. That is to say that one’s service will outlive him or her. One service is the greatest legacy one can leave behind. Failure in the place of service is failure in leadership. People do not care how long you occupy that leadership position, people care to know what you are able to do occupying such enviable position.
Anyone who desires to be a leader will understand it better when he or she makeup one’s mind to stir up the heart of service. Service is the path to fulfillment in leadership. There is never any leadership without service. The greatest of all time leader is our Lord and Master Jesus Christ. He was the greatest in rendering service and that is why He was able to accomplish the complete redemption of mankind.

“Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.” (John chapter 4 verses 34)
We must understand that whenever there is a call for leadership, we will be in to render quality service. It is never how long one occupied the leadership position that matters, it is the quality of his or her service that matters. Everyone will be remembered by what service we are able to render. Let us seize every opportunity and moment to render quality service as that is the only way to tender lasting legacy.
