Cultivating the kingdom values
“Righteousness exalteth a nation: but sin is a reproach to any people.” (Proverbs chapter 14 verses 34)
“But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.” (1Timothy chapter 3 verses 15)
1. HUMILITY:
This is also referred to as “lowliness of heart” and is one of the major values of the Lord Jesus, which He requires of us.
“Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.” (Mathew chapter 11 verses 29)
2. MEEKNESS:
This is also referred to as gentleness. Meekness isn’t weakness but rather is strength placed under control.
“A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory.” (Mathew chapter 12 verses 20)
3. LOVE:
This is the acid test of authentic Christianity. Without a shadow of doubt, agape love is the greatest of all the Kingdom values.
“And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.” (1Corianthians chapter 13 verses 13)
4. HOLINESS:
Nobody can see God without this virtue. Hence, Holiness is one of the most important Values within the Church.
“Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:” (Hebrews chapter 12 verses 14)
5. DILIGENCE:
Slothfulness or laziness makes one an outcast in the Kingdom. Therefore, labouring by grace is a major Kingdom value.
“For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.” (2Thessanolian chapter 3 verses 10)
6. INTEGRITY:
This is the quality of being in unison with one words or one whole being.
“In all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works: in doctrine shewing uncorruptness, gravity, sincerity,” (Titus chapter 2 verses 7)
7. SERVICE:
This will forever remain the major pathway to true greatness in the Kingdom.
“For even the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.” (Mark chapter 10 verses 45)
Conclusion:
“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:” (1Peter chapter 2 verses 9)
The following are certain basic Kingdom values we must internalize, imbibe, and put into practice if we are willing to see the glory of God being revealed everywhere. May God Almighty give us the grace to cultivate within us all these Kingdom values and to model an exemplary behaviour for others.
