5 steps to overcoming lukewarmness
“Therefore I counsel you to purchase from Me gold refined and tested by fire, that you may be [truly] wealthy, and white clothes to clothe you and to keep the shame of your nudity from being seen, and salve to put on your eyes, that you may see. (Revelation chapter 3 verses 18 AMP)
19 – “Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
20 – But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
21 – If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.” (2Timothy chapter 2 verses 19 to 21)
- The Abiding Life:
The Christian believer’s life is powered by God’s Spirit. Abiding means “to stay or to live in.” You can’t be an effective Christian without immersing your life in God’s Spirit. The Holy Scriptures call Him our Seal.
“In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,” (Ephesians chapter 1 verses 13)
The word “Seal” means “our Preserver.” You have to start spending time in the Spirit through Prayer, Worship, study of God’s Word and Meditation and listening to Inspiring Christian Messages. When you do these things often, you move to a higher level of Christian Living.
“Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.” (John chapter q5 verses 4)
Anytime you notice Lukewarmness in your life, go back to these things because it is usually as a result of carnality.
- Godly Associations:
You might need to change some people in your space, especially those ones who distract you from the ultimate goal: Christlikeness. Those who elude you to grow to become like Christ Jesus.
“He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.” (Proverbs chapter 13 verses 20)
Instead follow those Christian believers who still have a burning fire within which spread unchecked to their fellows. You don’t have to attach sentiment going about fulfilling destiny.
“Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.” (Proverbs chapter 27 verses 17)
- Godly Mentorship:
It is commonly said somewhat humorously that “your mentor is your tormentor.” This implies that mentors deliberately make things tough for their protégés, for there are things you cannot do for yourself or tell yourself sincerely. Only a genuine mentor can do this. Hence, you need someone that will help keep you aflame for Christ.
16 – “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
17 – That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.” (2Timothy chapter 3 verses 16 to 17)
You need to understand that people have trade through the path you are about to pass through. You need their advice to be able to navigate through. Your Path to greatness might need a little push from the mentor.
- Unfettered Accountability:
Get an accountability partner who holds you up in prayer and helps you stay true to your commitments. It has to be someone you have reverence for and can not lie to.
6 – “And king Rehoboam consulted with the old men, that stood before Solomon his father while he yet lived, and said, How do ye advise that I may answer this people?
7 – And they spake unto him, saying, If thou wilt be a servant unto this people this day, and wilt serve them, and answer them, and speak good words to them, then they will be thy servants for ever.
8 – But he forsook the counsel of the old men, which they had given him, and consulted with the young men that were grown up with him, and which stood before him:
9 – And he said unto them, What counsel give ye that we may answer this people, who have spoken to me, saying, Make the yoke which thy father did put upon us lighter?
10 – And the young men that were grown up with him spake unto him, saying, Thus shalt thou speak unto this people that spake unto thee, saying, Thy father made our yoke heavy, but make thou it lighter unto us; thus shalt thou say unto them, My little finger shall be thicker than my father’s loins.
11 – And now whereas my father did lade you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke: my father hath chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.
12 – So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam the third day, as the king had appointed, saying, Come to me again the third day.
13 – And the king answered the people roughly, and forsook the old men’s counsel that they gave him;
14 – And spake to them after the counsel of the young men, saying, My father made your yoke heavy, and I will add to your yoke: my father also chastised you with whips, but I will chastise you with scorpions.
15 – Wherefore the king hearkened not unto the people; for the cause was from the LORD, that he might perform his saying, which the LORD spake by Ahijah the Shilonite unto Jeroboam the son of Nebat.” (1Kings chapter 12 verses 6 to 15)
Let someone watch over your Faith and watch yourself become all that Jesus made you to be.
- Not forsaking the gathering of brethren:
1 – “Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him,
2 – That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.” (2Thessalonians chapter 2 verses 1 to 2)
You need gathering of some set of believers to keep you growing and going in faith. There is an aspect of cooperate anointing. When believers with like minds come together, it is always a good moment share together.
