13 importance of spiritual apprenticeship

 

  1. It gives one the opportunity to receive the anointing of the mentor.

8 – “And Elijah took his mantle, and wrapped it together, and smote the waters, and they were divided hither and thither, so that they two went over on dry ground.

9 – And it came to pass, when they were gone over, that Elijah said unto Elisha, Ask what I shall do for thee, before I be taken away from thee. And Elisha said, I pray thee, let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me.

10 – And he said, Thou hast asked a hard thing: nevertheless, if thou see me when I am taken from thee, it shall be so unto thee; but if not, it shall not be so.” (2Kings chapter 2 verses 8 to 10)

 

  1. It gives one an opportunity to tap into wisdom for success in ministry.

“He that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.” (Proverbs chapter 13 verses 20)

 

  1. It gives one the opportunity to partake on the honour of the mentor.

“Whoso keepeth the fig tree shall eat the fruit thereof: so he that waiteth on his master shall be honoured.” (Proverbs chapter 27 verses 18)

 

  1. It gives one an opportunity to become a partaker of the generational blessings of the mentor.

1 – “Now after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying,

2 – Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.

3 – Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.” (Joshua chapter 1 verses 1 to 3)

Every spiritual father has his spiritual blessing.

 

  1. It gives one an opportunity to acquire the necessary skills for success in ministry.

1 – “Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

2 – And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.” (2Timothy chapter 2 verses 1 to 2)

 

  1. It gives one an opportunity for spiritual endorsement and credibility.

“But Jehoshaphat said, Is there not here a prophet of the LORD, that we may enquire of the LORD by him? And one of the king of Israel’s servants answered and said, Here is Elisha the son of Shaphat, which poured water on the hands of Elijah.” (2Kings chapter 3 verses 11)

 

  1. It gives one an opportunity for speed in ministry.

“Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,” (Philippians chapter 3 verses 8)

 

  1. It gives one an opportunity to reduce the margin for errors.

“Take [with me] your share of the hardships and suffering [which you are called to endure] as a good (first-class) soldier of Christ Jesus. (2Timothy  chapter 2 verses 3 AMP)

 

  1. It gives one an opportunity to provide role for accountability.

20 – “And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.

21 – His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” (Mathew chapter 25 verses 20 to 210)

 

  1. It gives one an opportunity to be disciplined.

“No soldier when in service gets entangled in the enterprises of [civilian] life; his aim is to satisfy and please the one who enlisted him. (2Timothy chapter 2 verses  4 AMP)

 

  1. It gives one an opportunity to infuse boldness and Sonship.

“Therefore I [am ready to] persevere and stand my ground with patience and endure everything for the sake of the elect [God ‘s chosen], so that they too may obtain [the] salvation which is in Christ Jesus, with [the reward of] eternal glory. (2Timothy chapter  2 verses 10 AMP)

 

  1. It gives one an opportunity to gain practical knowledge on how to mentor.

“Be ye followers of me, even as I also am of Christ.” (1Corianthians chapter 11 verses 1)

 

  1. It gives one an opportunity to produce excellence in ministry.

“But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.” (1Corianthians chapter 15 verses 10)
