The gifts of the spirit
- Service:
Jesus came on earth to serve.
“Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.” (John chapter 4 verses 34)
- Meek:
God likes the humble.
Luke.18.14 – I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.
- Faithfulness:
God is committed to His word. That is why He is called a faithful God.
3 – “Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:
4 – So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.” (Proverbs chapter 3 verses 3 to 4)
“A faithful man shall abound with blessings: but he that maketh haste to be rich shall not be innocent.” (Proverbs chapter 28 verses 20)
- Love:
Jesus benefits others at His cost. He loves us first before we love Him.
3 – “Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart:
4 – So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.” (Proverbs chapter 3 verses 3 to 4)
- Patience:
It takes to be still and watch or allow God to work.
2 – “My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations;
3 – Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience.” (James chapter 1 verses 2 to 3)
- Goodness:
Be good to people
“Behold therefore the goodness and severity of God: on them which fell, severity; but toward thee, goodness, if thou continue in his goodness: otherwise thou also shalt be cut off.” (Romans chapter 11 verses 22)
For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;” (Ephesians chapter 5 verses 9)
- Gentleness
1 – Now I Paul myself beseech you by the meekness and gentleness of Christ, who in presence am base among you, but being absent am bold toward you:
2 – But I beseech you, that I may not be bold when I am present with that confidence, wherewith I think to be bold against some, which think of us as if we walked according to the flesh.” (2Corinthians chapter 10 verses 1 to 2)
- Godliness
“For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.” (1Timothy chapter4 verses 8)
- Self-control:
“He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.” (Proverbs chapter 16 verses 32)
It is belief that gives birth to character. What you belief mould your character and behaviour.
