Keep it a secret for the appointed time
8 – “So it came to pass, when the king’s commandment and his decree was heard, and when many maidens were gathered together unto Shushan the palace, to the custody of Hegai, that Esther was brought also unto the king’s house, to the custody of Hegai, keeper of the women.
9 – And the maiden pleased him, and she obtained kindness of him; and he speedily gave her her things for purification, with such things as belonged to her, and seven maidens, which were meet to be given her, out of the king’s house: and he preferred her and her maids unto the best place of the house of the women.
10 – Esther had not shewed her people nor her kindred: for Mordecai had charged her that she should not shew it.
11 – And Mordecai walked every day before the court of the women’s house, to know how Esther did, and what should become of her.
12 – Now when every maid’s turn was come to go in to king Ahasuerus, after that she had been twelve months, according to the manner of the women, (for so were the days of their purifications accomplished, to wit, six months with oil of myrrh, and six months with sweet odours, and with other things for the purifying of the women;)
13 – Then thus came every maiden unto the king; whatsoever she desired was given her to go with her out of the house of the women unto the king’s house.
14 – In the evening she went, and on the morrow she returned into the second house of the women, to the custody of Shaashgaz, the king’s chamberlain, which kept the concubines: she came in unto the king no more, except the king delighted in her, and that she were called by name.
15 – Now when the turn of Esther, the daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai, who had taken her for his daughter, was come to go in unto the king, she required nothing but what Hegai the king’s chamberlain, the keeper of the women, appointed. And Esther obtained favour in the sight of all them that looked upon her.
16 – So Esther was taken unto king Ahasuerus into his house royal in the tenth month, which is the month Tebeth, in the seventh year of his reign.
17 – And the king loved Esther above all the women, and she obtained grace and favour in his sight more than all the virgins; so that he set the royal crown upon her head, and made her queen instead of Vashti.
18 – Then the king made a great feast unto all his princes and his servants, even Esther’s feast; and he made a release to the provinces, and gave gifts, according to the state of the king.
19 – And when the virgins were gathered together the second time, then Mordecai sat in the king’s gate.
20 – Esther had not yet shewed her kindred nor her people; as Mordecai had charged her: for Esther did the commandment of Mordecai, like as when she was brought up with him.
21 – In those days, while Mordecai sat in the king’s gate, two of the king’s chamberlains, Bigthan and Teresh, of those which kept the door, were wroth, and sought to lay hand on the king Ahasuerus.
22 – And the thing was known to Mordecai, who told it unto Esther the queen; and Esther certified the king thereof in Mordecai’s name.
23 – And when inquisition was made of the matter, it was found out; therefore they were both hanged on a tree: and it was written in the book of the chronicles before the king.” (Esther chapter 2 verses 8 to 23)
Though it seems as if the Jews are not qualified for it, but Mordecai knew it was an opportunity for a Jewish woman to step into such enviable position
You can realise that the Jews were slaves in the foreign land, there are certain things which is never obligated for them to participate in. Of course they can never think of occupying a high place like becoming a queen in strange land. Mordecai had a better understanding about it all. Seeing and owning the future has a price that goes with it. One must take risk if he must obtain his heart desire.
Why would mordecai ever encourage Esther to participate in the contest of the virgins for the king’s wife. Though it seems as if the Jews are not qualified for it, but Mordecai knew it was an opportunity for a Jewish woman to step into such enviable position. Though they are in a strange land, they needed a representative in the realm of government and not just any how position, but the one that is close to the heart of the king. That is why he seized the opportunity to encourage Esther to participate.
There are people who can never see the future that God have shown you. You better be sure you aware of those you are disclosing your future with.
I know Esther must have told him,
“Uncle I don’t think this will work out?”
“You are equal to the task?” he said.
“What if they find out I am a Jew. They will not take it lightly with me,” she said, quietly.
“Not until they find out. You have to join the context,” he encouraged.
“Why are you doing this uncle?” she asked.
“I am preparing for the rain, for it is about to rain,” he said, looking into her eyes.
“But uncle there is no sign that it is about to rain,” she said, astonished.
“You will understand it better later. Just do what I asked you to do. And let this be between us. No one else should know,” he warned her.
“Yes uncle.”
Mordecai strived to discourage any form criticisms that may want to abort the idea he had. He eluded Esther to hear words that are capable of creating fear in her. That is he prevented her from letting anyone know what was going on. There are people who can never see the future that God have shown you. You better be sure you aware of those you are disclosing your future with. Some might not understand it. To some they will make mockery of you. Some might go afar as to reveal it to others who are not meant to hear about it till the appointed time.
In seeing and taking hold of the future do not run things in sentiment.
The Jews have suffered in the strange land. After Mordecai saw the devastation that resulted to slaughter of many Jews, he prayed that such will not happen to the Jews again. He realised that Esther going for the position of a queen is an answered prayer. It is required for everyone to be sensitive to know what God is doing in this season of his or her time. It was a season for the Jews and Mordecai took it upon himself to see the will of God been perfected.
When the gate keeper raised an idea to eradicate the king, Mordecai did not hesitate to bring it to the knowledge of Esther because he understood what that means to Jews. Anything that affects the king will affect the Jews. In seeing and taking hold of the future do not run things in sentiment. If you ever romance with sentiment, sentiment will get you down. Mordecai avoided any form of distraction at any means.
Conclusion:
The future is bright when we are prepared for it. Dr David Ogbueli said, “You don’t prepare for war in the middle of the war, you prepare for the war before the war.” When you get the clear picture about the future, do every thing in your power to for fight it and bring into reality through total dependence on God. There is an appointed time for everything under the heaven.
