Understand you have an enemy
1 – “Now it came to pass, when Sanballat, and Tobiah, and Geshem the Arabian, and the rest of our enemies, heard that I had builded the wall, and that there was no breach left therein; (though at that time I had not set up the doors upon the gates;)
2 – That Sanballat and Geshem sent unto me, saying, Come, let us meet together in some one of the villages in the plain of Ono. But they thought to do me mischief.
3 – And I sent messengers unto them, saying, I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you?
4 – Yet they sent unto me four times after this sort; and I answered them after the same manner.
5 – Then sent Sanballat his servant unto me in like manner the fifth time with an open letter in his hand;
6 – Wherein was written, It is reported among the heathen, and Gashmu saith it, that thou and the Jews think to rebel: for which cause thou buildest the wall, that thou mayest be their king, according to these words.
7 – And thou hast also appointed prophets to preach of thee at Jerusalem, saying, There is a king in Judah: and now shall it be reported to the king according to these words. Come now therefore, and let us take counsel together.
8 – Then I sent unto him, saying, There are no such things done as thou sayest, but thou feignest them out of thine own heart.” (Nehemiah chapter 6 verses 1 to 6)
You can’t accommodate an enemy and be thinking you are safe
The greatest casualty in life is when people fail to realise that they have enemies. For the fact you are born into this planet earth, you have an enemy. You can’t accommodate an enemy and be thinking you are safe. A line of enmity between man and devil is as old as the garden of Eden. When God said that the seed of the woman shall bruise your head.
14 – “And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou art cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all days of thy life:
15 – And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.” (Genesis chapter 3 verses 14 to 15)
The devil never meant good for anyone.
There is an enemy that does not cherish your existence. If it were to be negotiated, that enemy would have fought you out of been a reality. You should know that your presence in this planet is to create solution to world problems and you have to cause your light to shine. There is a course you are created to fulfill and that is the reason you are being hated. Devil is the ultimate enemy to humanity. The devil never meant good for anyone. Our Lord and master Jesus Christ addressed him as the thief.
“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.” (John chapter 10 verses 10)
People can make you to trust them but little did you know they are the cause why that predicament still lingers.
You see, in the case of Nehemiah it was not the devil but humanity. There are people who pretend to be with someone because that very person is down. They claim to be sympathising with this person because they enjoy seeing him or her struggling. They can make one feel that they are standing together, while in their heart they are mocking this very person. People can make you to trust them but little do you know they are the cause of that predicament.
There are people in this life who did not appreciate your success. Even when they join others to celebrate the goodness of God upon your life and household, their heart is bitter towards you and your household. You have to identify them and keep distance with these people. They are enemies that does not need to be welcomed. Nehemiah understood this better when they called him for a meeting, he kept telling them that the work that is on going will not stop because of him going to meet with them.
If Nehemiah had succumbed to their request, may be he would have been eliminated and the work would have stopped half way
Never you romance with an enemy if not, you will become a victim. I have heard sad stories about those who secured visa to travel abroad, they called friends for a night of celebration before they leave the country. The night of celebration became their death doom. After the night of celebration, the next day became morning of mourning. The stories have always been, he went to have a hangout with his friends and that was how he was poisoned. Who poisoned him, a friend. He was never a friend. That person was an unidentified enemy.
Fake friends are worse than a declared enemy. Nehemiah understood that Sanballat, and Tobiah, and Geshem the Arabian and others never meant good for them. And he never gave them that opportunity to take advantage of them. If Nehemiah had succumbed to their request, may be he would have been eliminated and the work would have stopped half way. May be today Nehemiah that finished the rebuilding the wall of Jerusalem would have been known as the man who started to rebuilding of the wall of Jerusalem but was unable to finished it.
Conclusion
“And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man’s sake; for the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth; neither will I again smite any more every thing living, as I have done.” (Genesis chapter 8 verses 21)
It only takes a heart that has embraced our Lord and master Jesus Christ into his or her life to desist from evil. As long as that heart has not encountered Christ, it is bound to do evil. Keep away from fake friends. The are wolves in sheep’s clothing. They are with you waiting for the right time to strike. When you identify any trace of infidelity, kindly give that relationship a distance or you may not live to tell the story.
