Keep your faith alive

When the chips are down can you still believe? I was seeing a movie and a scene just struck me because it was so real. It is a small fraction of what happens after an event.

Why do we get our faith tested to the point of near hopelessness? We get so down cast that the only thought on our mind is “does God still exist?” “How do I get out of this one?” “Will the morning ever come?”

Job went through so much trauma that an average person would have needed a truckload of therapy session to be at least minimally normal. His faith was sourly tested and what was his response? “I know my redeemer lives.”

“For I know that my redeemer liveth, and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth:” (Job chapter 19 verses 25)

Tough time will never last.

We may not be direct recipients of these trails but you can start to question God based on the ugly experiences of others. You would gradually question if truly what you have been hearing is truly true. Hard times, desperation, famine, peril, war, sickness, death etc are for temptations that require grace to overcome. Tough time will never last.

33 – “Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth.

34 – Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.

35 – Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?

36 – As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.

37 – Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.

38 – For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come,

39 – Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans chapter 8 verses 33 to 39)

You see, situations push us to the point of doubting our source

In my years of living, I have sometimes questioned my faith, denied myself prayers and absolutely shut myself out on any spiritual thing. One day at work, I was just going through revelations for routine’s sake.  Then one scripture came up like it was not there before! I got goose bumps all over, it felt as though Jesus was speaking and I was just holding the bible for holding sake. “I AM ALPHA AND OMEGA,  the beginning and the end, the first and the last.” My doubts flew out the window. I cried and cried, I repented over and over again.

You see, situations push us to the point of doubting our source. Not just one but several occasions. But the word of God assures us that when we walk through the fire Be is there with us.

2 – “When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.

3 – For I am the LORD thy God, the Holy One of Israel, thy Saviour: I gave Egypt for thy ransom, Ethiopia and Seba for thee.

4 – Since thou wast precious in my sight, thou hast been honourable, and I have loved thee: therefore will I give men for thee, and people for thy life.

5 – Fear not: for I am with thee: I will bring thy seed from the east, and gather thee from the west;” (Isaiah chapter 43 verses 2 to 5)

His grace is sufficient for us and His strength is made perfect in our weakness.

“And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me.” (2Corinthians chapter 12 verses 9)

No one was made to suffer

I have learnt that in my doubts,  I speak the word. No matter how limited my word life may be, I repeat it until I have a modicum of peace. I often reflect on some issues I have had over the years and how they have been miraculously solved. I told myself that worry can beat you to pulp without giving a solution.

So, why add pain to your pain? These things are temporary I tell you. No one was made to suffer, weeping may endure for the night but joy comes in the morning. To make the days go faster, feast on your faith. Feed it, nurture it, grow it. It is not delulu, it is a solution to your situation.

Conclusion:

“For his anger endureth but a moment; in his favour is life: weeping may endure for a night, but joy cometh in the morning.” (Psalms chapter 30 verses 5)

Has God’s assurance written over it. Whatever you facing at the moment or whatever you are passing through will all expire some day. I believe it radically. When the chips are down, let your faith go up! Hallelujah!
