To love is to obey
“Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.” (Mathew chapter 22 verses 37)
No one can ever put love away from God. Wherever you see God, there is fullness of love
Can you love who you disobey? Or rather, can you disobey who you love? A clear instruction came from God to the children of Israel. Love being the ultimate. Why? Because God knew how love operates for He is love. No one can ever put love away from God. Wherever you see God, there is fullness of love. In the presence of God reign love, peace and unity.
Have you had a rebellious dog before? It eats up every shoe, destroys the couch, barks at anything and everything. Disturbs guests, bites children, poops and urinated at any corner of the house. Can you say that dog loves its owner? Some animal lovers would be of the opinion that it needs attention but does it?
Action proceeds live!
You obey who you love and the children of Israel professed love but their actions were saying the opposite. On several accounts they did what God told them was an abomination to him. As a father, how would you feel if your child disobeys you the same minute he professed love? Action proceeds live!
“These people draw near Me with their mouths and honor Me with their lips, but their hearts hold off and are far away from Me.” (Mathew chapter 15 verses 8 AMP)
Honestly, action speaks louder than words. The children of Israel did not enjoy the full relationship their father, Abraham had with God. To be honest they just knew God based on the miracles and stories they have heard.
To obey is to show your devotion to something you love
To follow completely, one has to essentially cut off dead ears to instruction. To love means to obey. To obey is to show your devotion to something you love. Have you ever seen anyone who loves his or child, yet when the child is sick and the doctor gives specific instructions to aid the child speedy recovery by prescribing some drugs, after paying huge amount of money to purchase those drugs, he or she will trash the doctor’s instructions and do according to what you know.
Unfortunately, you might end up hurting the child more. Is that love? Love in this sense requires complete obedience to the doctor’s instructions. For trashing the doctor’s instructions in the first place is to endanger the child’s life. Though you love your child, but you are doing the wrong thing and the right time. The proof of love towards the sick child at that very moment is to follow the doctor’s instructions.
You can’t amend the law just to suit your own interest.
As children, we are instructed to obey our parents in the Lord.
1- “Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.
2 – Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)
3 – That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.” (Ephesians chapter 6 verses 1 to 3)
Can you love your parents in disobedience? I know there are a thousand justifiable reasons to disobey. Parents can get you so upset that you loose your mind.
“And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.” (Ephesians chapter 6 verses 4)
But the command was to obey whether you want to or not. In my opinion, this is the recipe to love them. You can’t amend the law just to suit your own interest.
Love and obedience are so similar that you can’t separate one from the other. For the love of the country the armed forces follow orders as quickly as possible.
Conclusion:
5 – “Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:
6 – Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:
7 – But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:
8 – And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.
9 – Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and given him a name which is above every name:
10 – That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;
11 – And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” (Philippians chapter 2 verses 5 to 11)
If you truly love God, you wouldn’t allow worldly theories cloud your judgement. Let action precede your love.
