OBEDIENCE IS THE ULTIMATE KEY

Obedience is the ultimate key

Obedience is to completely let go of what you want and submitting to or follow an instruction or order.

Oxford believes it is a compliance with an order, request or law or submission to another’s authority. Obedience is a very sensitive matter to many people.  Some think it is so extreme task that they call it an inconvenience.  Men in their ego think it a taboo to obey. They rub their shoulders with authority probably because of their age differences. Walk hand in hand with gender bias or male dominance.

Is obedience that hard to be observed? To be frank, IT IS! Read the definition again. Will you comply with all absoluteness that your will does not matter. Was it easy for Abraham?

1 – “Now the LORD had said unto Abram, Get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee:

2 – And I will make of thee a great nation, and I will bless thee, and make thy name great; and thou shalt be a blessing:

3 – And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed.

4 – So Abram departed, as the LORD had spoken unto him; and Lot went with him: and Abram was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran.” (Genesis chapter 12 verses 1 to 4)

Do you think that he didn’t feel a little twinge here and there when he was about to leave everything he knew and had? Was it easy to obey to the point of killing his only beloved son Isaac?

In Abraham case, the obedience was absolute

1 – “And it came to pass after these things, that God did tempt Abraham, and said unto him, Abraham: and he said, Behold, here I am.

2 – And he said, Take now thy son, thine only son Isaac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.

3 – And Abraham rose up early in the morning, and saddled his ass, and took two of his young men with him, and Isaac his son, and clave the wood for the burnt offering, and rose up, and went unto the place of which God had told him.” (Genesis chapter 22 verses 1 to 3)

In Abraham case, the obedience was absolute. Can obedience bring commendation or condemnation? When we look at the story of Moses, Aaron and Aaron’s sons, we see that Moses didn’t question any instruction he received from God.  He obeyed to the point of having a fall out with his siblings.

In our society today, modifications have been made to the point that instructions that can be beneficial to a person is ignored, why? Because of that pot belly of pride they can’t obey. Have you at any point been instructed to do a particular task that will benefit you but because the instruction is coming from a subordinate or a junior, you disobey?

God has given a clear instruction that no one is to touch the ark of covenant but the Levites.

Did you remember the death that occurred because an overly concerned person wanted to stop the ark from falling and he touched the ark? He died instantly.

8 – “And David and all Israel played before God with all their might, and with singing, and with harps, and with psalteries, and with timbrels, and with cymbals, and with trumpets.

9 – And when they came unto the threshingfloor of Chidon, Uzza put forth his hand to hold the ark; for the oxen stumbled.

10 – And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzza, and he smote him, because he put his hand to the ark: and there he died before God.” (1Chronicle chapter 13 verses 8 to 10)

Why? It is unfair you may think but if you read the previous verses, God has given a clear instruction that no one is to touch the ark of covenant but the Levites. Was his motive right? Can’t it be overlooked? He was just helping. Absolute obedience is what kept Moses alive at that period when there was no mercy.

Have you read this quote, “To obey is better than sacrifice and to hearken better than fats of ram!”

Prophet Samuel emphatically instructed the complete destruction of the people of Ai but Saul seeing the facts of the animals, decided to spare them and bring it back to Israel. This particular action cost him a while lot. Before that red horn rears its head, check the repercussion of what you do.

Once an instruction is issued, not minding the qualification of the individual, God may be testing your obedience and believe me he hates disobedience as much as he hate witchcraft.

Conclusion:

Test the spirit before obeying. How? The spirit of God within you will bear you witness. Obey the word of God blindly and reap the benefits just like that widow obeyed Elijah and had an overflow until there was no more vessels to carry the oil.
