The trinity of leadership
Failure in leadership can cause complete mess to the society.
“Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.” (John chapter 4 verses 34)
Looking at the caption, I know something is going through your mind at the moment. You just recite it in your mind again, there! Trinity of leadership! Yes, some persons can also call it the triangle of leadership. You think that sounds cools than using the above caption. Whichever one that suits you, you can go with it. The most interesting thing here is that there is a TRINITY OF LEADERSHIP. It is important for anyone who wants to assume the position of leadership, to make an indelible impact and leave lasting legacy.
Why I prefer to used the trinity of leadership is because God is interested in leadership. The rise and fall of any society, the leader is held responsible. Failure in leading right, leads to damnation. Failure in leadership can cause havoc to the people. Failure in leadership can cause complete mess to the society. It flows from the top to the bottom. Not the other way round. When a leader loses his bearing in leadership, any direction can fit in.
You can only take people to the level of your exposure. The knowledge you have concerning leadership is the light of your leadership.
A leader was never made to loose his bearing in leadership to avoid leading in obscurity. A leader is meant to understand the bearing of his leadership and understand that not every direction is the right direction to his leadership. A leader who leads and it takes only his shadow to follow him, has only succeeded in taking a walk. Why a leader was never expected to lose bearing is because there are others following.
So many people who have assumed the position of leadership and some who are yet to are yet to be acquainted with the full knowledge of trinity of leadership. It is in the trinity of leadership that one will get to understand the place of man in leadership and what he ought to be doing at the initial stage of his leadership. In leadership it is first thing first. You can only take people to the level of your exposure. The knowledge you have concerning leadership is the light of your leadership.
THE TRINITY OF LEADERSHIP
- The first trinity of leadership is people.
“And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” (Mathew chapter 4 verses 19)
For a person’s leadership to be effective he must understand the place of investing in people. Every leader should know the importance of people to accomplish his leadership vision. No leadership can accomplish much without the assistance of the people. Jesus being the good shepherd understood the place of the sheep. He can’t be a good shepherd if there is no sheep to take care of. Any successful leader must be someone who has dedicated followers.
Genuine leadership is about raising leaders. Maybe you are the kind who despite raising genuine followers, comes to realise that you are standing alone. To be a successful leader, you must raise a successor. You must duplicate yourself. Until you are able to duplicate yourself, you have not started leading. There should those, when people look at them, they should be able to see your genuine leadership style in them. Until your followers become a true mirror of your personality, you are yet to experience genuine leadership.
- The second is service.
“Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.” (John chapter 4 verses 34)
Service will distinguish everyone. Service is a test tool to everyone’s leadership. If you are not a person of service, you have not learnt leadership. Service is the bridge between a person and his expected end. There is no way anyone will become an effective and efficient leader who is not first a person of service. Anyone who quit service as a leader, cannot amount to anything significant. Leadership is about service. Service to God, service to oneself and service to others.
When you see a true leader, you have seen a person of service. A true leader embraces every single responsibility to keep the flame of his leadership. A true leader understands that his life and leadership will only count if he is a person of responsibility.
25 “But Jesus said to them, The kings of the Gentiles are deified by them and exercise lordship [ruling as emperor-gods] over them; and those in authority over them are called benefactors and well-doers.
26 But this is not to be so with you; on the contrary, let him who is the greatest among you become like the youngest, and him who is the chief and leader like one who serves. (Luke chapter 22 verses 25 to 26 AMP)
9 – “For I am the least of the apostles, that am not meet to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.
10 – But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.” (1Corianthians chapter 15 verses 9 to 10)
The third is result.
The result is the goal of every leader. How has he been able to expand the kingdom? When we look at the men a leader was able to raise and the impact they have made in the lives of people and the society at large. The result is the transformation one’s leadership was able to bring.
20 – “And so he that had received five talents came and brought other five talents, saying, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me five talents: behold, I have gained beside them five talents more.
21 – His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.
22 – He also that had received two talents came and said, Lord, thou deliveredst unto me two talents: behold, I have gained two other talents beside them.
23 – His lord said unto him, Well done, good and faithful servant; thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord.” (Mathew chapter 25 verses 20 to 23)
You must score yourself as leader to testify if you have done greatly or not.
6 – For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand.
7 – I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
8 – Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.” (2Timothy chapter 4 verses 6 to 8)
Conclusion:
Jesus all time greatest leader declared His mission mandate, raised disciples to propagate the will of the Father here earth and on the cross He said it is finished. His death and resurrection brings complete freedom to humanity and gave us dominion over the works of darkness. So it is the way one’s leadership should be. It should bring transform and illuminate lives and the whole place.
