Be a wise leader
You must first appreciate the privilege to lead, then you can lead wisely and lead right.
1 – “Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.
2 – And five of them were wise, and five were foolish.
3 – They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them:
4 – But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.” (Mathew chapter 25 verses 1 to 4)
What could make the leader to arrive on a drastically conclusion about those who were given an opportunity to exercise leadership and probably they thought they were leading right? You can believe they were leaders, some others will believe they were workers in the vine yard. Whichever way, since we are dealing with the course of being a wise leader, it is established that they were all leaders. You can go ahead to justify order wise.
When you see someone who does not value an opportunity to lead, he or she can’t lead effectively.
The fact remains that they were all leaders at first, given opportunity to exhibit leadership. While some others took it upon themselves to be a privilege given to them to make their master proud by discharging effective leadership, others live to abuse the opportunity given to them to impact lives and to make our world a better place. When you see someone who does not value an opportunity to lead, he or she can’t lead effectively. You must first appreciate the privilege to lead, then you can lead wisely and lead right.
We should understand from the scripture above that there are two categories of leaders. The master said, they are wise leaders and they are foolish leaders. There is nothing as an average leadership. It is either you are in or you are not. No one can’t claim to be in while his whole being is out. It is in individual’s responsibility to tell oneself the truth. You can well score yourself to be aware of the category you fall into. No one is condemning anyone here. Let is be an awaken call for everyone to lead to expectations.
Failure in the place of leadership is failure in the place of one’s responsibility
There are factors that resulted for one to be wise, and there are factors that resulted for one to be foolish. We will look deeply into that so that one can be able to avoid unnecessary mistakes that are capable to ruin one’s leadership. The wisest man who ever lived said,
“Take us the foxes, the little foxes, that spoil the vines: for our vines have tender grapes.” (Song of Solomon chapter 2 verses 15)
There are things that do not matter to many at the beginning of their leadership but it matters at last. When one found himself in a place of leadership, responsibility has stepped in. He should be able to take full responsibility. Failure in the place of leadership is failure in the place of one’s responsibility. Everyone will be judged by how he or she discharges his or her leadership. Even the foolish among them never knew they were foolish until they were proved so.
No one can lead people beyond the level of his exposure
One of the reasons some were called foolish was because they never made any investment to improve oneself. The way they were from the very beginning that was the way they were. There was no transition of growth in their lives in respect to leadership. The master was amazed to see that they did not improve intellectually. No one can lead people beyond the level of his exposure. Once one is not growing, soonest than later he or she will be stock. One’s leadership ends as far as his or her knowledge can lead him or her. Not investing in knowledge is one the cancerous disease that eludes people leadership. You only grow when you have acquired new knowledge to make your leadership effectively and efficiently. Knowledge is power.
They were called foolish leaders because they were nothing significant they were doing to improve their leadership. There is nothing new under the sun. Leadership can be deliberate. When one knows what he or she wants, he or she goes after it. What did you want in your leadership? Who did you ever want to be like? What is your driving force in that leadership? If one must be an outstanding leader, he or she must ask the right questions, accept the right answers and yield one life in it. You become better by asking the right questions and be able to accept the answers to make improvement towards better leadership.
Failure to carry out one’s leadership responsibility diligently is a slap on the face of the master
They were called foolish because they allowed sentiment to step in. That you are your master favourite is never the reason you should not be result oriented. That you know him too well is never a factor to disregard his order. Failure to carry out one’s leadership responsibility diligently is a slap on the face of the master. It is an indicator that he or she should not have to be trusted in the first place. Failure in leadership is an indicator you are never fit for such leadership.
There were called foolish leaders because they failed to understand that leadership is beyond them. Their nonchalant attitude into carrying out their leadership effectively has a way of affecting not only them but those around them. They were foolish, not because they only made themselves foolish, they were foolish because many became foolish do to their incompetence to lead right. There were foolish because many were misled by their leadership. Many became lazy, insecure and lack the proper attitude to follow right so that they can become genuine leaders because they were following a selfish and self-centered leader.
Conclusion:
Now you are able to identify why they were called wise and foolish leaders, you have a choice to make. You have a choice to make the right amendment if you are already a victim. No matter how we go about our leadership, it will either make well or mar things. When we are identified as wise leaders, is all about us impacting, touching lives and transforming the society. Be a wise leader is all about being a transformational leader.
