Let the lamp of your leadership shine
“Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.” (Mathew chapter 25 verses 1)
Everyone is born a leader. Everyone was made to exhibit effective and efficient leadership. Everyone has a lamp when we stepped out to come on earth to assume the place of a leader, to exhibit effective and efficient leadership. There was a tendency that obscurity might tend to overshadow, but there is a remedy to dealing with any darkness that might dare surface. Leadership was designed never to give room for obscurity and that is why everyone was given a lamp.
It takes a leader to bring out the leadership in an individual
The lamp of leadership is more than the physical lamp. One interesting thing about these leaders is that they understand that they have a lamp and they understand the importance of having a lamp. That is why when it was time to meet their leader, they knew they have to take their lamp along side them. It takes a leader to bring out the leadership in an individual. You must get to understand that you have a lamp.
Getting to the point to discover you have a lamp is very vital. But it is more vital to know that to just discover you have a lamp is never enough. If you have a lamp, there are things that you are expected to do. The lamp with you is made to serve a purpose. If the purpose of your lamp is abused, obscurity is inevitable. Lamp is made to carry light that will shine and brighten the whole place. Your lamp is either brightening the place or it is not.
When your lamp fails to shine, it will cause more darkness to invade
It is in your responsibility to discover you have a lamp, it is in your responsibility to get your lamp turned on, it is in your responsibility to keep the fire in the lamp burning, it is in your responsibility for the light in the lamp to keep shining and brightening the whole place. You will be held responsible if your lamp fails to fulfill its purpose. When your lamp fails to shine, it will cause more darkness to invade. Your lamp is not really about you, but about others for the name of God Almighty to be glorify.
14 – “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.
15 – Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.
16 – Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (Mathew chapter 5 verses 14 to 16)
It is what an individual does with the lamp of his leadership that distinguishes him
In the course of leadership, everyone was given equal opportunities and everyone was equipped in the same manner and ability. No one was declared the favourite among others. It is what an individual does with the lamp of his leadership that distinguishes him. That one is well equipped for a particular responsibility does not make him effective if he does not deploy the necessary skills and attitude to handle such responsibility.
You have a lamp to enable you discharge your leadership effectively and efficiently. These leaders took their lamp and walk away, but it is in their responsibility to lighten their respective lamp. You dare not think it is someone else’s responsibility to light your lamp. I am not disputing the fact that someone can assist one to light his or her lamp but that should not be an attitude someone should put on. Instead of waiting for someone to assist in lighting your lamp, be the one to help others light their lamp.
One of the greatest challenges of leader is when one fails to take full responsibility of the lamp of his leadership to keep it shining.
Any leader that leaves hundred percent responsibilities to God is an irresponsible leader. God provided the lamp, you and I will seek for the oil to keep the lamp burning, lightening the whole places, bringing transformation and making lives beautiful. It is your responsibility to get your light shine. You will be held responsible for whatever way things turns out. One of the greatest challenges of leader is when one fails to take full responsibility of the lamp of his leadership to keep it shining.
You are the lamp of your leadership. How you leadership will turn out is up to you. This life is not all about you. It is about the impact you were created to make. It is your responsibility and no one will ever take the blame that you failed in your place of leadership. The wisest man ever lived king Solomon said,
“The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly.” (Proverbs chapter 20 verses 27)
5 WAYS TO KEEP YOUR LAMP SHINING
- You must abide by your source.

4 – Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
5 – I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.” (John chapter 15 verses 4 to 5)
- You must have prayer life and a burning altar.
29 – “He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.
30 – Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall,

“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” (Joshua chapter 1 verses 8)
- You must associate with the right company.
