Accessing things above

 

1 – “If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.

2 – Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.” (Colosians chapter 3 verses 1 to 2)

Jesus leaving His throne in heaven and came down on earth in the form of man. He lived and died the ultimate death for humanity to restore man to his place in the heavenly. The death of Jesus and His resurrection paved way for us to be able to access things which are above. Believing and accepting the finished work of Christ Jesus on the cross have grant us the opportunity and privilege to access things above.

 

What are things above?

  1. Striving daily to become like Jesus

“My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you,” (Galatians chapter 4 verses 19)

 

  1. Striving daily to cultivate the mind of Christ.

“Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:” (Philippians chapter 2 verses 5)

 

  1. Striving daily to do His will

“But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I laboured more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.” (1Corianthians chapter 15 verses 10)

 

  1. Striving daily to be a good ambassador for Jesus.

“For which I am an ambassador in bonds: that therein I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.” (Ephesians chapter 6 verses 20)

 

  1. Striving daily to be a reflection of Jesus Christ.

20 – “According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.

21 – For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” (Philippians chapter 1 verses 20 to 21)

 

HOW CAN ONE ACCESS THE THINGS ABOVE

  1. Having a genuine relationship with Jesus.

“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:” (John chapter 1 verses 12)

 

  1. Studying the Word.

“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” (Joshua chapter 1 verses 8)

 

  1. Having a prayer life.

28 – Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding.

29 – He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength.

30 – Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall:

31 – But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” (Isaiah chapter 40 verses 28 to 31)

 

  1. Not avoiding the gathering of the brethren.

1 And now, brothers and sisters, let us tell you about the coming again of our Lord Jesus Christ and how we will be gathered together to meet him. (NLT)

2 Please don’t be so easily shaken and troubled by those who say that the day of the Lord has already begun. Even if they claim to have had a vision, a revelation, or a letter supposedly from us, don’t believe them. (2Thessalonians 2 verses 1 to 2 NLT)
