Readers are leaders
1 – “Now after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying,
2 – Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.
3 – Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.
4 – From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast.
5 – There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
6 – Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.
7 – Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.
8 – This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” (Joshua chapter 1 verses 1 to 8)
There is no way any one can lead effectively if he is not a person who longs for knowledge
When it was time for Joshua to step into the place of leadership after the death of Moses, God stepped in to disclose to Joshua all that he needed to do at the moment to keep God’s purpose concerning God’s people in track. There are processes to this and if it is not rightly defined, it can lead to catastrophy. When one is not equipped with the knowledge and the processes to deliver effectively in the phase of leadership, abuse is inevitable.
The true art of effective and efficient leadership is for those who are eager to improve their personality through studying. Every leader is stuck at the level of the knowledge he or she has. That is why reading is the lifestyle of a leader. There is no way any one can lead effectively if he is not a person who longs for knowledge. As long as one longs for knowledge, he or she stirs up the attitude of reading.
If reading does not interest you, nothing in leadership is made to interest you
One of the greatest challenges in our society today is not that there is no people who can lead; one of the greatest challenges in our society today is having leaders who have not stirred up the true attitude to study. Of course they are limited by their level of knowledge. Reading is a spirit that everyone should have for better improvement and boasting of one’s self esteem
If reading does not make sense to you, of course leadership should not make sense to you. If reading does not interest you, nothing in leadership is made to interest you. If reading is not yet a lifestyle to you, know it that leadership will be a struggle. There is no controversy about a leader who has lost his or her bearing on studying, that he or she will experience resistance and struggle to lead effectively.
When a leader becomes an ardent reader, that very leader lives to become an exemplary and impactful leader.
Reading for a leader who aims to become a transformational leader, is never optional. Reading is a deliberate and intentional act for any leader who desires to make impact. The key to make impact in one’s leadership, is first becoming a reader. When a leader becomes an ardent reader, that very leader lives to become an exemplary and impactful leader. Reading and studying has the capacity to hinder anyone who does not place value to it.
Never you think you know it all when it comes to exercising leadership. Never you think you have arrived because of the level you have attended. If you are not the person that reads, you will become crippled in discharging your duties as a leader.
Conclusion
If one fails in the place of reading and studying, he or she will struggle in leading people right. If one fails to be a reader, he or she can’t become an effective and efficient leader. Reading to a leader is a life style.
