Learning is the solid foundation of a leader
1 – “Now after the death of Moses the servant of the LORD it came to pass, that the LORD spake unto Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ minister, saying,
2 – Moses my servant is dead; now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, thou, and all this people, unto the land which I do give to them, even to the children of Israel.
3 – Every place that the sole of your foot shall tread upon, that have I given unto you, as I said unto Moses.
4 – From the wilderness and this Lebanon even unto the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and unto the great sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your coast.
5 – There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
6 – Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.
7 – Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper whithersoever thou goest.
8 – This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” (Joshua chapter 1 verses1 to 8)
That one is born a leader does not automatically make the person an effective leader
There is no controversy whether we are born leaders or not. We are born leaders but not everyone emerges a leader. Even when everyone emerges a leader, not everyone emerges an effective leader. If one desires to be an effective and efficient leader, that calls for a price. Everyone is born a leader, but to become an effective and efficient leader is an individual’s responsibility. Anyone who desires to be distinguished in his or her leadership should develop the attitude of learning.
That one is born a leader does not automatically make the person an effective leader. There are levels when it comes to leadership processes. If one decides to remain where he or she is, there is no issue with that. The only challenge is that the person is on the verge to be displaced by someone who has paid the price of taking the responsibility to grow his leadership. People cannot pay the price to grow in their leadership while you are comfortable with where you are.
Learning in leadership is taking time to study the life style of those who have gone through the path of leadership and were successful leaders
Where you are at the moment is never a bad one. But if you remain there without an intention to grow and become better through learning the attitude and the skills to becoming an effective leader, that can elude your leadership. You need to understand that your level of exposure will only take you to a particular level. If you must go farther than the level you are, that demands another exposure through learning. Learning in leadership is taking time to study the life style of those who have gone through the path of leadership and were successful leaders.
Many get frustrated in their leadership, not because they were not called to be leaders. Or they are not genuine leaders. No matter how genuine leader one is if he did not go the extra mile to grow himself through learning the art of a genuine leader, they might be trapped on the way of exercising leadership. Learning is the lubricant that reduces friction and speed one’s leadership without much obstacles and resistance.
In leadership, one’s input is directly proportional to one’s output
I have seen many who love leadership and they are eager to lead but once they experience stumbling block on their path to exercise leadership and they try with the level of their knowledge to pull down the stumbling block but quite unfortunately their level of knowledge at the moment does not have enough capacity to pull down the stumbling block and they conclude that they were not made to be great leaders. They have accepted the fate of where they are as their ultimate level they will ever experience in their leadership.
Great level in leadership calls for great price. Greater level of leadership calls for greater price. There is no sentiment to that. In leadership, one’s input is directly proportional to one’s output. Growth in leadership does not happen accidentally, it requires intentional investment in growing oneself yielding to instructions result to effective growth in leadership.
To avail one from much stress and pains, one needs to study the leadership attitude of those who have led before now
There is no one in the leadership phase whose intention is to become effective leader who is not first a person who learned the art of effective leadership through studying the legacy of them who had experienced what it means to be an effective leader. Any level anyone desires to experience in leadership, some persons have experienced that. To avail one from much stress and pains, one needs to study the leadership attitude of those who have led before now.
Learning gives leadership a solid foundation to ride through to the level of its peak. Learning is an elevator when it comes to leadership. Everyone who desires to be a remarkable leader must develop the attitude of learning. Your knowledge of leadership can only take you to a level and stabilize you there, you can’t get farther than the knowledge you have. That is why it is essential for one to keep learning and learning and learning. With that one can keep the temple of his leadership.
Conclusion:
You must cherish learning through developing the attitude of learning if you must excel in your leadership career. Learning and implementation is the only way to become and display effective leadership.
