The purpose of the Holy Spirit
“A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.” (Ezekiel chapter 36 verses 26)
- The Holy Spirit gives a new spirit: The transforming power of God is carry by the Holy Spirit.
“But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:” (John chapter 1 verses 12)
- He brings transformation:
10 – “And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.
11 – But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.” (Romans chapter 8 verses 10 to 11)
- He teaches us everything we need to know:
“But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.” (John chapter 14 verses 26)
- He is the seal and ownership of a believer:
“In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,” (Ephesians chapter 1 verses 13)
- The Holy Spirit within an individual gives him or her the power to live above sin:
“For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.” (Romans chapter 8 verses 2)
- He bears witness for the believer:
15 – For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.
16 – The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:” (Romans chapter 8 verses 15 to 16)
- He gives a believer peace:
22 – “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23 – Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.” (Galatians chapter 5 verses 22 to 23)
