10 consequences of living with the desire of the flesh

  1. It hinders spiritual growth.

“Be not deceived: evil communications corrupt good manners.” (1Corinthians chapter 15 verses 33)

 

  1. It will hinder you from being a carrier of God’s presence.

1 – The earth is the LORD’S, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.

2 – For he hath founded it upon the seas, and established it upon the floods.

3 – Who shall ascend into the hill of the LORD? or who shall stand in his holy

“For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.” (Galatians chapter 5 verses 17)

 

  1. It makes one to keep walking in darkness.

“Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.” (1Thessalonian chapter 5 verses 5)

1 – What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?

2 – God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?” (Romans chapter 6 verses 1 to 2)

 

  1. It brings about failure in marriage. It is the major reason why marriages experience failure.

18 – Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as it is fit in the Lord.

19 – Husbands, love your wives, and be not bitter against them.

20 – Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord.

21 – Fathers, provoke not your children to anger, lest they be discouraged.” (Colossians chapter 3 verses 18 to 21)

 

  1. It will weakens the effectiveness of your christian life.

“Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;” (1Peter chapter 2 verses 11)

 

  1. It will hinder you from preach the gospel.

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.” (Romans  chapter 1 verses 16)

 

  1. It causes lack of boldness to confront satan and demons

15 – And the evil spirit answered and said, Jesus I know, and Paul I know; but who are ye?

16 – And the man in whom the evil spirit was leaped on them, and overcame them, and prevailed against them, so that they fled out of that house naked and wounded.

17 – And this was known to all the Jews and Greeks also dwelling at Ephesus; and fear fell on them all, and the name of the Lord Jesus was magnified.” (Acts chapter 19 verses 15 to 17)

 

  1. It allows darkness encroach.

“And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.” (John chapter 3 verses 19)

“This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.” (1 John chapter 1 verses 5)

 

  1. It makes one to be ineffective in the service of God.

25 – “And every man that striveth for the mastery is temperate in all things. Now they do it to obtain a corruptible crown; but we an incorruptible.

26 – I therefore so run, not as uncertainly; so fight I, not as one that beateth the air:

27 – But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.” (1Corinthians chapter 9 verses 25 to 27)

 

  1. It brings enmity between God and man

“Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.” (James chapter 4 verses 4)
