The peculiar sacrifice
It will interest you to know that if we are talking about the ultimate sacrifice that means there was a sacrifice. It will be nice if we look back to the act of creation to draw out the necessary fact that will enable us drive through this very episode. Sacrifice took place from the very moment God had the thought to create a kingdom for man so that he can exercise dominion and have the taste of authority over a kingdom. The book of Ephesians chapter 1 verses 4 says,
“According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:”
It was a huge sacrifice when God stepped out for creation. Think about it, God left His throne to go about creating a kingdom for mankind. Even when God encountered darkness, it was a huge sacrifice to deal with the darkness.

Genesis chapter 1 verses 1 to 4 says,
1 – In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
2 – And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
3 – And God said, Let there be light: and there was light.
4 – And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness.
In the midst of deep darkness, God took it upon Himself to call forth light. That was sacrifice. It was a huge sacrifice to separate the land from the water body. Calling things that be not as though they were and waiting for its manifestation was a huge sacrifice. Remember the earth that was without form and void took a huge sacrifice to be brought into shape. All things bright and beautiful, all creation great and small, all creation wise and wonderful, it is the sacrifice of God Almighty that made them all.
Calling things that be not as though they were and waiting for its manifestation was a huge sacrifice
I believe most of us will never look at the act of creation from the point of sacrifice but that is truly what it is. Everything about the earth and its beauty is all about sacrifice. Why it was sacrifice is that God Almighty never delegated such responsibility since He is the king of the whole universe. As the king of the whole universe, on the matter of creation, creating a kingdom for mankind He chose and deligated it upon Himself to see to it.
It was an act of sacrifice because He wanted everything to be at its perfect shape. God would have delegated creation of the earth to the angels and of course the angels would have carried out an adequate work but God wanted this sacrifice to be on His account. At every point God achieved an act, He makes an affirmation that it is beautiful. If it is beautiful by God, sure it will be beautiful and perfect by man.
Why it was sacrifice is that God Almighty never delegated such responsibility since He is the king of the whole universe
I know some persons will look at the act of creation as though God was so idle that He was looking for something to do. That was not true. God is God in heaven. Since man has shown up, he can never have a taste of kingship being in heaven. There is need for another kingdom for him. If God is that idle as some persons thought, He would have went ahead to instruct the angels about the whole work of creation since they are the ministering spirits.
Check it out, the whole work of creation took God six days to get it accomplished, that should tell you something about the subject of sacrifice. The bible lets us understand that God rested on the seventh day, that tells us creation was a huge sacrifice. Let us look on the account of creating man, God had to involve the rest of the trinity.
Since man has shown up, he can never have a taste of kingship being in heaven
26 – “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
27 – So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
28 – And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.” (Genesis chapter 1 verses 26 to 28)
This sacrifice did not end at creating just the spirit man, God extended to the act of forming the physical man.
5 – “And every plant of the field before it was in the earth, and every herb of the field before it grew: for the LORD God had not caused it to rain upon the earth, and there was not a man to till the ground.
6 – But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground.
7 – And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” (Genesis chapter 2 verses 5 to 7)
From verses five of the scripture above made us to understand that God as the king never delegated tilling of the ground to the angels, but to Himself and there by going about to form the physical man. He finally breathed into the nostrils of the physical man, he became a living soul. That was a huge sacrifice.
Conclusion
You might think the whole work of creation was that simple but that is not completely true. If it was that simple, God would have made the whole creation in less than a day since He is God Almighty. Creation was a whole process full of sacrifice. God deployed everything in creating the earth. God deployed the best of sacrifice and we are living testimony to that.
